I was one of the victims of the weird crash where some soundfile from the crusades couldn't be found - would just pop up randomly and exit the game.

Yeah, let's hope these issues are fixed with this latest re-release.

Lies - thats why it got stuck! O_____o
Medieval was great game and my introduction to the series. I spent many hours at my high school times playing that masterpiece.
I never got option to try Shogun so I may get both eventually. One to try and one to remember old times.

Except for Graphics, the original Totlal Wars games...Shogun and Medieval...were better games then their sucessors. The AI was vastly superior to that in Medieval 2 and Shogun 2,and the Medieval campaigns were much better then those in the sequel.
Bought both right away on Steam, since the CD versions have been unplayable on modern computers;they simply don't like any video card made after 2005.
I will repurchase them if they come on Steam.

I don't know about medieval, I haven't much of that game but the AI in Shogun is not better than Shogun 2. Not by a long shot. They can be equally as dumb or just as unfair.

I just picked up the disc copy of Medieval for 99p in a charity shop. Totally random find.
Damn, I wish those games were here. I still remember when I played the first demo of Medieval Total War which was my first encounter with the series. I was so enchanted by it then. I do own the retail collection of old Total War games but still digital version on gog would be better since some games have issues on newer os. Eitherway im hoping that gog soon pokes Sega enough to release at least old Total War games here.

Considering how much you love these games, I don't understand why you are limiting yourself to GoG. Especially when they are available for dirt cheap else where. We become gamers to play games.

darthspudius: If you can use the controls of Medieval two you should be fine. Just think of it as a more primitive version. Shogun is a great game, fantastic art style. But in my opinion the sequel improved on it and is the best in the series.

Sachys: Oh HELL NO!

Shogun 2 had great diplomatic / campaign map stuff but the combat was abysmal.

Medieval 2 was the peak for that!
You could then say Shogun was not a good display yes? BTW; what's wrong with the combat? I play Rome 2 and it seems serviceable.

I think you're lying. You know why people limits themselves to GOG, you just don't want to admit it.

I just don't see the point. For a couple of quid/bucks whatever. Being overly picky seems incredibly pointless.

That is your opinion, others might (and do) think differently. Doesn't change the fact that you misrepresented your ignorance about the subjects. You know why some people don't want to buy in steam and yet lied about it, which makes you an objectively horrible person. With that kind of attitude you won't be invited to the cool kid's birthday.
