Well I thought it was unofficial policy not to do this after the last blow up but you did again. Since you don't have a box to say why I'm unsubscribing from marketing emails this is why.

I've spent a ton of money on gog. I have 449 games in my library. I want to support preserving old games. But you can't stop yourselves from annoying me to the point I'm wanting nothing to do with you
What games were advertised?

If not I would send support tickets with the games being shown to you.
But they aren't showing it putting it in.
But yeah your decision.

Gog still needs to work on those filters.
But to me i don't mind since i am an adult.

I'd think twice about disclosing that - OP might get laughed at if it turns out it's games that just flash a titty or two for all but one second.

I think it's the This Valentine's will be NAUGHTY promotion that OP is seeing. It's sexual, but no nudity is being shown.

He's referring to the Fetish Locator series discount offer that flashing into his face from the email .

And I assume there's nothing actually pornographic like penetration/intercourse on display in this email?

Does it have to be about "offensive" imagery? Can't the OP just be tired of marketing material about games he has no interest in?

Every time the subject of porn games comes up it's the same thing, people just can't seem to understand not everyone's issue is "oh no, I'm afraid of boobs".
Well, if the OP can't even stand the mere reference to games which may or may not include pornographic content the simple solution would be to just unsubscribe from all newsletters and notifications?

Generally this company is pretty good about its marketing emails. But this makes it all the more baffling when I suddenly wake up to crappy, low effort porn being advertised in my inbox.

Please learn from this and be better.

How on earth should GOG know which kind of games you like or dislike? I mean, I also received several mails in which GOG offered me some strategy games and I am absolutely no fan of strategy games. I am interested in several other genres including some of the adult games GOG is selling ... but how should GOG know that they should send the strategy games adverts only to you and the adverts for sexual themed games to me? People could as well feel offended by offers for violent or political games. They simply can't know which kind of games you like and which kind of games you don't want to get botherd with until there's a kind of setting to tell them what you like or dislike - that is the actual problem with these e-mails. Well ... actually it never was a problem for me. I simply deleted the mail and was done with it.

GOG is annoying you that much because they dared to send you some mails you consider to be spam?
Don't you think that's a bit extreme? I mean, these mails don't contain anything harmful - just some adverts you are not intrested in.

I also don't have a problem deleting unwanted e-mails. I just wish if GOG could send e-mails with exclusive discounts (the kind that it sends once or twice a week) only for games that one has got in his/her wishlist. I think that this method would have more success in people actually using the discount code (which is usually cheaper than when that game gets discounted in the normal discount periods) and get that game (to me at least).
How ever would they figure out what games I'm interested in? It's a mystery. Clearly they just don't have this kind of data.

I go to the site for a lot of reasons. I spend my money on this site for a lot of reasons. Game preservation, offline backups, excellent deals, that kind of stuff.

I don't go here to beat my meat. I don't care if they want to keep these sorts of low effort games on their store, but putting them in marketing emails gives the wrong impression to customers.

GOG has a method of determining what games a user might be interested in that is currently in use. How rudimentary it is for you to decide. For me, it is better than selecting games at random. See the "Games for you" section on the homepage.
As it stands currently, I willingly allow GOG to send me promotional emails, knowing that I cannot possibly be interested in every offer presented. I also am able to unsubscribe from these offers. Even if the system could be improved, I currently find it difficult to complain from a personal perspective. Perhaps someone could state a more compelling reason why any user, even ones such as myself who don't mind them, should wish they were no longer promoted. What is the content of these mails; is there offensive or adult material in them, or is it a clean advert for the game?
It makes sense in some respects for GOG to advertise these games to their users. They sell well; one metric of determining popularity is the number of wishlists, and one of the offending games is in the top 5 for the past 30 days.
