Underwater wonders to wander on your own terms.

Aquaria, a metroidvania underwater adventure, is available now on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, DRM-free on GOG.com with a 50% launch discount.

We hardly think about it daily, but the mysteries of the deep sea right beneath our feet remain just as alien to us as the farthest reaches of our solar system. And where the unknown begins, our imagination starts to wander, and the world of Aquaria begin to fascinate.
Aquaria is a game about exploring both the deepest, darkest recesses of the sea and the sunlit expanses of underwater havens. Equal parts game and audio-visual experience, it's a critically acclaimed adventure that's out to challenge, delight you with a beautiful wide world to explore, and treat you with respect by letting you do so on your own terms. Aside from gamers' hearts, Aquaria stole the show during the prestigious 2007 Independent Games Festival where it was awarded first place for Excellence in Audio, Excellence in Visual Art, Design Innovation as well as the big grand prize as best of show. As one most acclaimed indie productions in recent years, there's no better place for Aquaria than a digital shelf on GOG.com.

Experience an underwater metroidvania with Aquaria, available now, DRM-free on GOG.com. You can take advantage of the 50% launch discount for the first week, until Tuesday, August 11, 12:59 PM GMT.

fortune_p_dawg: It's like Super Metroid made a baby with Ecco the dolphin, and said baby was then read Lovecraft stories every night before bed. So it's Super Metroid underwater with some slight horror elements sprinkled throughout.

CharlesGrey: Sounds pretty damned good to me. :)

( Well, except for that part where Samus Aran has sex with a dolphin. I'm still trying to decide whether that's a good or bad mental picture. )
Samus isn't a metroid though, much less a super metroid.
Awesome game that I sadly never managed to complete because of the last boss battle. :(

*MILD SPOILER*
Because it's actually 3-5 boss battles in a row, without checkpoints in between, blergh.

Nononono.... I meant the game cartridges themselves having sex, not the characters contained within.
everyone should get this just for the music for this price :)

HiPhish: I never got the hype about it. I played it, it was mostly swimming through empty areas with some occasional enemies that were easier to just ignore than engage. I quit out of boredom eventually. And don't tell me it gets good after X amount of time, why can't it be good now?
I won't defend the game 'cuz I haven't played it yet, though I certainly will later on, but SOME things need to have a sort of a build up to be really, really good.

Sounds to me like you're hooked on instant gratification. You can't keep those highs forever, though.

Cheers!
Must say - I'm glad it's finally here. About bloody time, eh? :D

I know, I wanted to implant another image in CharlesGery's mind though.

If it was consensual from both parties, it's a good mental picture.

Remember, dolphins ARE intelligent. They can consent to these things. So it's not really a crime, no matter what anyone says. They're just being judgemental, close-minded pricks because it's something that falls out of their absurdly limited limited comfort zone. BUT IT'S NONE OF THEIR BUSINESS! It WAS love. Beautiful, honest, sincere, pure love. What right did they have to meddle in our affairs?

SELFISH, INTOLERANT BASTARDS!
Now this is something I didn't expect. Good. Good!
I do like what I saw in the video. WIshlisted for now but at that price I might buy it within the week.
Thanks, looks good!
Yes! One of my favorite games is finally here! :-) And I'm happy to buy it for the third time!
I also hope to see Night In The Woods here someday.

p.s. I've got 3 extra copies to share some love to this game. If any of you are hesitant about buying it (or short of money, or whatever) PM me (but please don't if you're gonna buy it anyway, thanks!).

I already have it through Humble Bundle but it's a really nice release. One of the really classic indie games that often gets overlooked because it came out just before indie games became a big thing.

Antisocial Fat Man (RIP) did a pretty good review of it years back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9TSxXAY4xks
I voted for Aquaria and the list of games requested by Barry on GOG community wishlist. Thank you GOG.
It looks beautiful :)
