Classic lovers rejoice!

We are incredibly happy and excited to announce that Empire of the Ants, an extremely unique RTS and simulation title originally released on PC in 2000, is now available on GOG! Moreover, until April 21st, 1 PM UTC, you can get it with a -15% launch discount.

Based on the bestseller book of the same name by Bernard Werber and created by Microids, Empire of the Ants (2000) offers one of a kind experience of becoming the leader of an ant colony who must feed its workers, expand it, and protect the queen at all costs.

The gameplay in Empire of the Ants revolves around resource management, expansion, and combat. You start with a small group of ants and must collect resources such as food, wood, and stone to expand your colony. You can also assign different tasks to your ants, such as foraging, construction, and fighting. Additionally, this classic gem features a variety of ant species, each with their own unique abilities and roles within the colony, which adds to its strategic depth.

What made Empire of the Ants stand out all those years ago was most of all its unique perspective, allowing us to experience the world from the viewpoint of these very familiar insects. The game provides a detailed simulation of ant behavior and colony management, which can be both educational and incredibly entertaining.

But Empire of the Ants isn’t just an RTS title. It also features an engaging storyline with a campaign mode that includes various missions and objectives, adding a sense of progression and accomplishment. It is filled with detailed environments and ant animations that add to the already very immersive experience. And with multiplayer options, allowing up to 8 players to compete against each other or cooperate in building and managing ant colonies, the fun becomes even greater.

So whether you’re a classic games’ lover, strategy title enthusiast, nature simulation fan, or all of them together – it is an absolute must-have.

It’s high time to lead your ants to victory and secure the growth of your colony. Empire of the Ants, now on GOG!

SpikedWallMan: Looks awesome. The visuals sort of remind me of Pikmin. Wishlisted.

triock: Hmm, another game also available on zoom, Mega-Lo-Mania when?

SpikedWallMan: +1 for Mega-Lo-Mania. I don't think I will ever be a Zoom Platform customer after reading about their shady exclusivity deal for A Vampyre Story last year so I'm very happy to see Microids bring this game to GOG. I hope that other devs follow suit and bring their Zoom games to GOG. (I'm looking at you Fulqrum, Cryo, FunBox, Gearbox, and EA.)
There was no 'deal'

This topic has been spoken about countless times and every time it has been spoken about here it's been incorrect.
LOL!

Please don't fight and do keep on topic.
I nearly missed this, as I kept checking the following page instead.

https://www.gog.com/en/game/empire_of_the_ants

I presume that will be for a remake?

yup thats for the upcoming remake.
I think it looks like an interesting game.
A strategy game with a different concept.

I won't post a lot about this, but

* Ants 2000 seems like it's been on Zoom-Plat for many months by now, and it's also cheaper on Z-P. I could easily see this version coming to Steam in the near future too.

* until EA decides to let GOG have some more games or some publisher like maybe Night Dive buys the rights, I don't see how MLM could show up. (And personally there are quite a few other EA games I'd much rather get prioritized releases here.)

Dohi64: how is a clone of simant extremely unique? not to mention unique already means it's one of a kind, it can't be extremely that even if it was true.
Extremely could technically mean "in an extreme way" -- the game could have some very strange game mechanic(s), for example -- rather than "to an extreme degree". I doubt either is true, but still. :P

Dohi64: and of course, simant when? might break my not buying anything from you until you fix your fucking store streak.
SimAnt is presumably owned by Electronic Arts. So...probably not soon.
(Also, what's a store streak?)
The very first thing that I would do right after starting this game up would be to put this on!

Preferably blasting through the speakers xD.

Anyway, I had never heard about this game before but I'm always glad to see a game from either the '90s or '00s show up here (especially the latter, since I believe we could have a few more of those here already). So, aye... keep 'em coming!

SLP2000: KGB next, please
If KGB ever gets here someday I'd hope it also include the floppy version. I personally don't have anything against Donald Sutherland, but I'd hate to see his digitized beard often. And apparently all references to the KGB services were removed in the CD version.
I could be wrong but I think zoom platform only carries the CD version.

It's not a SimAnt clone. It's a RTS with an ant theme. I'd say (the perpetually in-dev) Empires of the Undergrowth is more of an Empire of the Ants clone, which given the similar titles might be intentional.
Does it include a manual?

What spam? You mean the mentions of Zoom? You've had "Zoom Platform" in your Fortum "Title" for months.

That means you've been spamming it with every post you make.

You do love jumping to ZOOM defense and arguing with Foad01. Sure you don't have some kind of affiliation with ZOOM? You are coming to GOG forums to defend them. Anyways, Foad01 did not even mention ZOOM and one of the blues asked us to stay on topic.

To answer your question, there seems to be no manual included. Now you can go on ZOOM discord to complained about GOG not adding the manual. :)

Thanks. I asked about the manual for another reason. It wasn't so I could complain. I already have the manual in English and French, so there'd be no need for me to complain.

Anyway, Foad has "Zoom Platform" in every single one of his posts here. I don't have it in all of mine. Look at the attached picture. I'd consider it advertising because people are going to wonder what Zoom Platform is, if they haven't heard of it. They might even feel compelled to look it up.

My association with Zoom is limited to being a customer. I simply appreciate that they have things not available here or at Steam. 40% of Zoom's catalog isn't available DRM-free with offline installers anywhere else, as far as I've seen. That's more than any other stores that sell DRM-free stuff.

Not sure why it's a problem that I don't feel the need to buy everything from one store. Some of you guys complain about things being exclusive to Steam but then you flip out when a DRM-free game isn't exclusive to GOG. LOLWUT? Steam and Epic are mentioned here by other people more than I mention Zoom. I suppose it's okay that Steam and Epic are mentioned here more because Steam's and Epic's dads can beat up GOG's dad, though, Right? :)

We've been over most of this before. Why am I repeatedly being asked the same things?

That might me too much to ask but would you care to upload said manual somewhere and post the link here: https://www.gog.com/forum/general/list_of_gog_games_with_missing_manuals_and_where_to_find_them_1 ?

Alternatively - somehow send me (e-mail?) and I'll try to figure out how and where to do the uploading ?

[EDIT]: I just realized you probably have said manual in paper! Nevermind then.
