So you want to be a mage?

Mage's Initiation: Reign of the Elements is now available DRM-free. Get it 10% off until February 6th, 5am UTC.

D'arc may be a mage-in-training but above all he's a teenager. So after a decade of studies in the arcane arts, he leaps at the opportunity to go out there and show 'em what he's made of! Choose your element and venture into enchanted lands where glory and legendary creatures await in an adventure/RPG that will surely put fans of classic Sierra games under its spell.

GlorFindel: OK, it's released!
So where is Al Emmo and the Lost Dutchman's Mine?
+1 :)

Tried starting the game and it just produces black screen for me - completely unplayable. Removing some bundled libs to use system ones instead doesn't help.

I played the demo some time ago and it had a setup file called WinSetup.exe where you could change all sorts
of options including graphics driver. In the demo the options were kinda crappy, but maybe they improved them
in the full game. You should try to change the graphics driver to a different option.

It starts, after 30 seconds. Software driver isn't fixing it really, also prevents Alt+Tab from working. The major issue now is the mouse lag. Trying to build AGS now with patches to Allegro which are fixing the number of mouse events tracked.

I opened a thread about these issues here.

Am I the only Kickstarter backer here who seems to have gotten about 4 extra Steam keys for this game on Humble? I think I might have won a competition or something.
Why the background images looks unsharp / blurry / out of focus / washed out and the characters looks like fine pixelated and very sharp? That looks not good. The characters looks like foreign bodies in this world...

This is a pretty decent game with some issues. The biggest being the combat system, which just feels and plays a bit clumsy. But then again, that is nothing new in this particular genre, as I've never played an adventure/RPG hybrid that would have excelled in combat. The voice acting is a pretty standard budget affair as well, so a hit and miss there as well.

I wrote a longer blog post about it if anyone wants to see my take on it:
