Since 1989 the series has seen numerous entries and spin-offs over the years, with different sub-series and story arcs within its large franchise. The Legend of Heroes games are known for their intricate, character-driven stories, and turn-based combat systems. They feature a rich fantasy world with a complex political backdrop and deep lore most often revolving around a group of characters on a journey and the relationships between them.

One of the most popular sub-series within the Legend of Heroes franchise is the Trails series, which consists of three different story arcs: the Trails in the Sky series, the Crossbell duology, and the Trails of Cold Steel series. Each of these arcs takes place in the same fictional world of Zemuria and features interconnected storylines, characters, and events.

Trails from Zero and its direct sequel Trails to Azure are a part of the Crossbell arc. In Trails from Zero, the story takes place in the state of Crossbell, a prosperous region that has become a hotbed for political tension and corruption. The game follows the story of Lloyd Bannings, a member of the Crossbell Police Department's Special Support Section (SSS), and his team as they investigate a series of crimes and conspiracies throughout the city.

The game features the same turn-based battle system and world-building as other games in the Legend of Heroes series, but also introduces new gameplay elements such as the ability to swap party members during combat and a new crafting system. It also expands on the world and lore established in the Trails in the Sky series, and sets the stage for the events of Trails to Azure.

In Trails to Azure, the story continues from where Trails from Zero left off and follows Lloyd Bannings and the Special Support Section (SSS) as they continue their investigations into the political and social issues plaguing the state of Crossbell. The story delves deeper into the conspiracies and conflicts surrounding the state's power players, including the influential organization called the "Gospel Plan."

Like other games in the Legend of Heroes series, Trails to Azure features a turn-based battle system and focuses heavily on character development and world-building. The game also introduces new gameplay mechanics, such as the "Crossbell Archives" system which allows players to collect and read various reports and documents that provide additional insight into the game's story and world.

Trails to Azure was originally released in 2011 but not outside of Japan. It is highly regarded among fans of the Legend of Heroes series for its engaging storyline, well-developed characters, and intricate world-building and has also received praise for its improvements and refinements to the gameplay mechanics introduced in Trails from Zero, as well as its attention to detail in presenting the various facets of Crossbell's society and politics.

We’re incredibly excited that the wait for the release is over and we can experience this gem of an RPG in its full glory. We would also like to invite you to join us during our release stream for Trails to Azure, today (March 14th), at 8 PM UTC on our Twitch Channel where Kaoji will jump right in to Special Support Section’s adventures!

Grab The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure – Launch Week Bundle with our GIFT, check out the Legends of Heroes Sale and embark on an incredible RPG adventure!
Let's go!

"The story delves deeper into the conspiracies and conflicts surrounding the state's power players, including the influential organization called the "Gospel Plan.""

Without details (as they would be spoilery): Gospel Plan is not an organziation. It is an operation carried out by some members of organization and is covered in Trails in the Sky 1 and 2
It is nice to see a new release on GoG. The combination with Septerra Core is a bit surprising. Isn't Septerra Core one of those games that does not work straight out of box, maybe needs some heavy tinkering, questionable sourced downloads in this win 11 era?

continues reading the forum -- suddenly notices a new release post for Septerra Core, hopes it comes free for owners of the original release here on GoG -- ;-)

As always, NISA's regional pricing is abysmal.
Yes, unfortunately I skip all NIS America games thanks to their prices. On the *other* store I could buy the same game for almost half the price.
Bought!
Thanks for Septerra and Linux ^^
Nice bonus.

Other store? You mean Steam? Christ, I know some of you people don't like DRM, but com'on, Steam is not Voldemort! Anyway, in Canada, same price on both stores, $55 CA, mind you, no taxes on GOG compared to Steam, so I've technically saved 15%.

I bet they will :(. No release notification again, only wishlist, so it is not the final store page. If they insist on doing the obnoxious time limited offers thing GOG should at least find a way to notify people who asked to be notified on release while the time limited offer is still available.

But I'm super happy to see it here finally! The article also should have mentioned Geofront and all the fan translators and programmers who helped make the release happen. It looks like Geofront is starting work on the first game of the Gagharv trilogy, hopefully the same will happen with those games :).

Also, thanks GOG for Septerra Core, that one was on my wishlist!

You know, I might have to go for this. I'm not caught up to Trails to Azure (still working on Trails in the Sky) but this is a solid deal and I'd like to buy all of Falcom's games on GOG at some point anyways.
Hey, quick question for anyone who knows:

How am I supposed to pronounce NIS America? I always figured like en-eye-ess but I have heard people in videos and in person say it like "niece." I figured it was like NHK (en-aitch-kay) but when I have tried to look I cannot see anything like Xebec had for their logo to tell you. Anyone know?
