Give 'em the good cop/bad cop routine.

This Is the Police 2 is now available DRM-free on GOG.COM, 10% off until August 7th, 3pm UTC. Nab the original game 67% off until Thursday, August 2nd, 10 am UTC.
The sequel to one of the grittiest crime thrillers of last year, This Is the Police 2 expertly blends an intricate narrative with management/simulation gameplay. Take the role of Jack Boyd as he makes dramatic decisions and employs questionable methods of law enforcement in the cold, violent town of Sharpwood, a community barely holding together thanks to the efforts of the determined but mistrusted sheriff Lilly Reed. How far can Jack bend the law before he breaks?
looks awesome
Oh fuck, I still have 100 days or so to do in the base game, though it's gonna be released two days from now.
DAMN YOU.
high rated
That was a suprise :-D

Ok, it was not for us but I hope you like that early release as a reference to the delayed release on the first intallment of the franchise :D what the hell is wrong with our release buttons :P

Enjoy

I'm very grateful for that but now I need to do over 100 days in first game in a matter of hours, not days.
Like a stun grenade through my bedroom door, I did not expect this.
Instabought, I liked the first game very much and this looks even better. And thanks for the early release, I don't have to wait two more days to play it!

Nice release thanks. Although not a game i would buy but glad it is here for others to play.
Thanks THQNordic for the continued support to DRM free gaming.

Zoidberg: Curious about the reviews of this...
Fairly positive so far, but the bigger sites have yet to weigh in. The most prominent review is from PC Gamer, a baffling 800 word article that admits to having never finished the game nor played the original, then slaps on a 52 score with nary an explanation.

Oh my, it reminds me reviews about the original.
"You have to fire all black cops, therefore this game is racist"; "you have to suppress feminist protest by force, therefore this game is sexist", giving the game score about ~3/10

Edit: fml, I've just read PC Gamer review. This was a mistake.

In regard to story of first game:
>trying to keep the city clean while also working with the Mafia and collecting as many kickbacks as he could
Yes, exactly. Wait, I don't remember "working with the mafia" part. You can, in fact, send them behind bars, but I guess the author didn't bother.

In regard of expectations of the story in the second game:
>At first the story feels like it’s going to be about Sheriff Reed’s struggles with institutional sexism
Yes, because there's, of course, no way to show without telling said institutional sexism. Unless it's screaming from every single dialogue "THIS IS GAME ABOUT INSTITUTIONAL SEXISM" it doesn't count.

About SWAT missions:
>full scale SWAT assaults where multiple officers participate in an XCOM style isometric turn based combat
Ah yes, how to spot good game journalist - every game with tactical TB combat is "XCOM style" and every game in which journalist can't pass tutorial is "Dark Souls style".

In regard to SWAT missions:
>Except I saw little feedback on that choice—a bloodbath was treated the same as a perfect run.
Yeah, it's like the main target of their mission is to eliminate a threat. No idea why doing it would count as a perfect run.

>You see, This Is The Police 2 is hard. Very, very hard.
Oh no, god forbid that. They didn't add "journalist difficulty" option with max resources and no requirements to do anything to get best ending? This is 2018, shame on you THQ.

Jesus Christ. And to think that those people are getting paid for writing this bullshit.
