Thank you for organizing again zeffyr! I would like to be a Secret Santa and Helper Elf if needed. Will make my wishlist public once I've cleaned it up.
Thank you for hosting this zeffyr.
After skipping last year, had too much other stuff on my plate, this year I'm back with vengeance :D.

I want to be a Secret Santa and Helper Elf if needed.

To help my Santa I've neatly organised the games in price ranges, so it's easier to chose from for him (I assume Santa itself is an old man, regardless who the Santa will be), according to budget and preferences.
The last entry is mostly a joke, but hey if Bill Gates is around and feels generous as I'd never pay that much for any single game :D...
Another caveat is that Factorio is never on sale, but I have a policy of never buying games that aren't on sale, so I might never buy it for myself :).

The security settings of my internet browser prevent
messages, chats and some more here at GOG.
Although some people have tried to explain details to me,
this thread now raises more questions for me
than it answers...

How does the Secret Elf work? Does this imply any
obligations? Do you have to be a Secret Santa?
I don't want to reveal my wish list!

If I buy a game here at GOG and enter that I want
to give it away, do I get the key that should be
sent to you? Can I decide for myself what I want to
give away? Who gets the game(s)? The Secret Santas?
Is there a value equalization? How can I make sure
that the person who receives a game from me as
a gift doesn't already have it in their library
and may not need it?

Kind regards

A Secret Elf is someone who wishes to buy another forum member a gift, but does not want to receive one in return.

Those who have signed up as a Secret Santa wish to both buy a gift for another member, and receive a gift as well.

The recipient of a gift will be randomly drawn by Zeffyr, who is hosting / doing the admin.

By providing wish lists (either making the GOG wish list public, posting a list of games interested in or sending Zeffyr a PM with a list of games ensures nothing is gifted that is already in someone's library.

There is no value equalisation. Everyone who signs up as a Secret Santa is aware that the value of the gift they receive may not have the same value as the gift they purchase.

If you have a specific game you want to give away, then you may wish to check out the GOG Community Gifting thread or one of the many other giveaway threads that already exist (or even start your own).

WOW! Some of my wishlist's games AREN'T on sale?!! That means they may (I repeat, may) be given for free at some point during the Winter Sales?? ;)

Edit: Not final wishlist yet.

Actually, what I would presume THAT means is that not all "sales" are applied at the moment and that in the next few days GOG will be adding new "bundles" of publishers into the "sales mix" and then at one point (let's say on the 18th) they will say "this is it, everything that's supposed to be on sale is and will stay until the sale event ends".

Thank you for the clarification! I'll have to make my final choices tomorrow, though, because I'm going to be away from PC for the following days. My real wishlist is about 140 games (!), but I don't want my Secert Santa to be overwhelmed by not knowing/deciding what to choose!!

I wish to be Secret Santa! This is also a positive tradition around her and I hope as many as possible will jump on board. Thanks zeffyr for hosting this year :D

My wishlist: https://www.gog.com/en/u/sanscript/wishlist
Ah, the lovely tradition! Many thanks to zeffyr for hosting and to every Santa and Elf.

I wish to be a Secret Santa.

Wishlist in alphabetical order:
- Exiled Kingdoms
- Grim Dawn Definitive Edition
- Hero-U: Rogue to Redemption
- Hexplore
- Legends of Amberland: The Forgotten Crown
- Operencia: The Stolen Sun - Explorer's Edition
- Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - Mythic Edition
- Psychonauts 2
- Return to Monkey Island
- Seal of Evil
- Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition
- The Quest Deluxe Edition (or The Quest + The Quest - Islands of Ice and Fire)
- UNCHARTED: Legacy of Thieves Collection

Notes to my Secret Santa: first of all, high priced games in my wishlist should be considered only in case of good discount and secondly, if you wish, you can alternatively make a donation to a charity organization such as Save the Children, UNICEF or similar and I will be happy anyway. Thank you!

My this "...to buy some secret santa a gift..." ?

What happens to the game or games that the Secret Elf buys?

If a Secret Elf only wants to give something away, but wants to decide for himself which game it should be, then it would make sense if all the Secret Santas' wish lists were published anonymously so that the Secret Elf can see which games are in demand. The initiator of this action could and should equalize the values and access exactly these games. I'm shocked by the thought that someone could be listed here as a Secret Santa and offer a game for just 9 cents. *!

Kind regards

That's only a problem in theory. We are doing Secret Santa in this forum for more than ten years and with hundreds of participants now and as far as I know that never happened. And even if it would happen, a helper elf could take over and make sure that everyone gets a nice gift.
The wishlist is ready and it will not change. I had to finalize it today, since I’ll be away from PC until about the 17th.
Since zeffyr, after we buy some games to our giftees, would like us to say why we chose those games, over others, let me also present/justify the games I’ve put in my wishlist!
The Lost Phone games have the idea that we’ve found a phone somewhere and we try to figure out whom it belongs to.
For the Silverfall, Crysis, Diablo games, I have got (and played) the main games. GOG offers their expansions too, so it’s a great chance for a replay!
For Deus Ex: MD, I have got Deus Ex, Deus Ex: IW, and Deus Ex: HR, so it’s a good chance for replaying the whole series!
The other six, are short horror games. I was searching and played many of the like from itchio, about 2-3 years ago and I really like the genre, especially those that constantly break the 4th wall (btw, have you played Pony Island? You really should!).

To my Secret Santa: you can choose truly whatever you please, according to your available budget and your preferences.
To zeffyr: Considering that at Christmas is also my Name Day, it is most probable that I won’t be getting online on Christmas Day. So, feel free to serve the others first and leave me for last.
Also, for the same reason (to my Secret Santa), don’t be alarmed if I don’t activate the code on that first day!

Secret Santa is more Secret than you think. He or She (it's Secret) has the power to bring prices down to zero 🥳
GOG does not control Secret Santa. It is Secret Santa who controls GOG's🫀🎄🌌

so don't worry about the 9pence games, just be good and you might be amazed : )
