Usually, it's a system issue rather than a specific game issue. I know it's a very basic question, but are other games working through your headphones? How are you flipping between speakers and headphones - hard switch or soft switch?

Oddly enough, when i turn my headphones off on the main menu the whole game shuts down.

Hmm. Not sure I can help then. My wireless headphones are radio ones, so connect through the headphone jack on the sound card. My soundcard uses a software switch in the drivers to shift output from the standard 5.1 jacks to the headphones one.

Have you checked volume mixer when the game is running with headphones engaged (the one in windows settings) - for some reason, the specific game might be muted when running with headphones.

Alright.
If you were on Linux, I'd tell you install Pipewire, and let the good times roll. Since you're on Windows, I'm going to shrug. Loudly.
I wasnt able to get it fixed so i just played the whole game through speakers. Its an excellent game but without subtitles,or being able to use earphones to hear clearly what was goin on i wished i could get my earphones to work with the game to enjoy the experience more.

I'm still confused as to how this problem actually occurred. Did you also try wired headphones through the physical headphone jack?

Well, every standard headphone should fit.
Yep - normal headphones all use a standard jack - it's a design that's largely unchanged since 1877. The 3.5mm version was launched in the 1950s, so pretty much any set of headphones released since then should work. Obviously, if you've only got a USB set of headphones (or Apple products since they bizarrely dropped the standard jack)

If you don't have a separate headphone connector on your sound card, then you use the connector that you have your speakers plugged in to.
