A big issue for me will be whether or not this remaster breaks existing mods for Oblivion. My guess is that it probably does, but so far I've seen no confirmation of that. Granted, I haven't looked very hard, but still. :)

Anyway, I have quite a few mods for Oblivion, and while the remaster may actually make some of them irrelevant, there are others I'm probably not willing to play without. It also remains to be seen whether the remaster incorporates any of the hundreds of fixes made by the community-built unofficial patches.

toroca: Unless Bethesda is worried that Skyblivion will steal some of the market share that Oblivion Remastered would otherwise gobble up. It wouldn't surprise me if the thinking is to beat Skyblivion to release in order to get as many sales as possible from people who otherwise might download Skyblivion if it were released first.
So apparently this wasn't the thinking at Bethesda after all, since IGN has reported that Bethesda gave the entire Skyblivion team game keys for Oblivion Remastered, and have explicitly stated that they have no intention of interfering with Skyblivion's completion. No one really likes to be proven wrong, but if I'm going to be wrong in public, it's kind of nice that it's over something like this. ;)

you yourself said it yourself already, right? With the mods and all, Bethesda knew they'd always had to deal with that. Previous experiences with Skyrim and all. No, Skyblivion plays right into their books

Forgive me for perhaps being a little dense, but I'm not sure what you mean by this part.
No, no forgive me! I just meant to say that Bethesda understands the value of Skyblivion for Bethesda
The Elder Scrolls VII will feature an ancestor of Barack Obama...

What the hell kind of schizo garbage is this? Elder Scrolls already has an equivalent of Africans called Redguards and has always been strictly unhistorical fantasy. Maybe you've had 1 too many doobies, which would be 1 or more.

Care to explain your attempt at humour to the rest of the class?
The price is indeed a bit odd btw. 54,99 on the windows store for the normal edition. I'm not sure if i like to go along with that. I never really played ESIV. I think i did purchase the thing for a bargain at a certain point and i remember going through a rift, ending up in some demonic mage tower or something after which i lost interest. Still the 'new game' looks mighty fine. Maybe after i finish Starfield and Tainted Grail, there might be some more room left for another fps fantasy rpg title..... tho , maybe not an fantasy rpg that is build on top of a old old engine
If the sales meet expectations, this might fund a Morrowind remake in the same vein.

I don't know what threshold they'd have to meet for this, but I hope it happens, if it hasn't already. One news article I read yesterday said that they already had more than 4 million purchases, which at over $50 per copy equates to $200 million USD. I don't know how much was spent on the remaster, but $200 million in a few days for a prettier version of a nearly two-decade-old game is not too shabby at all. ;)
Someone literally added Obama into Skyrim.
Modders will literally add anything into Skyrim at this point, it's like a tradition.
It's apparently crashing and is buggy, but hey at least I tried to be positive when they revealed it and I do think they made changes that could make this worth buying, but probably not until they fixed it and released it on GOG. By that time the price will also go down hopefully. This is not handled by Bethesda, it would be such a dissapointment, if you would still need mods to have fun in this game. I bought the OG two times, which is crashing with stability mods 15-20 times per playthrough, tho back in 2010-2011 the stability was ok, it's probably the modern hardware, but still.

I got 23 hours in the game, and no crashes so far. I did get a bug of an NPC walking in place. But thats all i have experienced so far.
