I don't even use Windows any more and there is no Gog Galaxy for Linux.

This is pathetic. The only reason I still log in to gog.com is to claim the Prime Gaming keys.

It's all unticked. I'm still receiving this spam.
Why post on this forum though? No forum user can solve this problem. Unless it's just to rant.

They are all unchecked, still receiving these stupid emails.

> We noticed you're using an outdated version of the GOG GALAXY client.
Actually no, just because I installed it at some point doesn't mean I'm using it.

I guess I'll flag it as spam, since it basically is.
Same for me too, I've not opted into getting these emails. I update Galaxy on the rare occasion I decide to run it. I don't want e-mails nagging about it.

Because maybe one of the regulars knows what hoops to jump through to turn them off before we add more load to their tech support department.

Absolutely true. But I based my reply on the tone of the OP which was not asking for help.

You are right. I'm not looking for help, I'm venting.
Thanks for trying anyway.

I just think it's not ok that they send me this nonsense after I went out of my way to disable all communications. Asking me to install a new version of an application I don't use is marketing I didn't sign up for. Putting shit like "ACTION NEEDED" in the subject only.makes it more scummy. And then the email isn't even sent from @gog.com but by some shitty mass mail service and the links in the email also go through some tracking URL.

And looking through the Forum, it appears I'm not the only one bothered by this.

If there's any way of disabling this email I'd appreciate it.
This problem is also impossible to search for since it has "update" and "email" in the search terms.
I got a reply from support, it basically said "You're supposed to be getting them, there's no way to turn them off because they aren't marketing e-mails, but I've forwarded your feedback to the relevant people."

It sounds like a manager needs demerited/demoted to intern, then.

Especially if there are non-users or erroneous emails about this.

The email was uselessly vague, it was inapplicable to many, and didn't even explain WHY the upgrade was being requested.
I'll add my voice in here.

I haven't used Galaxy in about a year now, mainly because... I switched from Windows to Linux. But then I got two of these update required emails. One of them had the "[ACTION REQUIRED]" part in the title which does sound like you have to do something now "or else", but then you find out they're just telling you to update Galaxy.

The other thing is I use Heroic on Linux to track playtimes and achievements here, so maybe it's detected Heroic as being an outdated version of Galaxy? I dunno.

You really think so? To me that is the typical appearance of a phishing mail – build up panic to make the recipient spend less time considering if it is a good idea to interact with the email at all.
This sort of tactic worked just fine for Microsoft...

Yes, but fortunately here are no zomboids who just love to multiply the FUD by claiming that every virus and their coders will suddenly wreak havoc on your system the day M$ drops support.
