Indeed, GOG really could have handled this better, especially considering it wasn't their first rodeo so to speak.

I remember back in 2010-2011, the forum was a really cool, and laid back place to be, especially for a gaming forum. There was as little of a mod presence as there is nowadays, and that was fine because their services were only very rarely ever needed. I can only imagine the huge changes that must've have taken place in the years after, for it to reach the point of being dominated by all of this pearl clutching and general poo flinging over something as insignificant as a single Tweet. I mean, really now, it's good to be socially conscious, don't get me wrong. But people being offended on Twitter doesn't really strike me as an especially important issue, to be honest.

Y'know what's worse than a tone-deaf tweet and an awkward apology? Scumbags at the cesspit known as ResetEra doxing/harassing the "supposed" person responsible for the tweet (whether it is the right person or not though, inexcusable either way) and bottom-of-the-barrel tabloid hacks like Rock Paper Shotgun sharing/encouraging the dox (RPS I thought was OK at one time, pretty good circa 2013 maybe, as of the last couple years they've become obnoxious but as of their recent take on the poop-stir around GOG I say: damn them, damn them to hell. I hope both of those places shut down).

Doxxing, absolutely bad. But doesn't this just mean there's a few bad apples in there? The mods even made a statement not to doxx people in that thread if I'm reading correctly. Were the people who did it punished afterwards or did they just leave it up?

I mean, I kind of get the idea. I finally left Neogaf behind once I visited the Politics forum there and saw what an echochamber that was.
