My GoogleFu might be too weak. Is there a way to get the PS5 controller to work? Currently playing CP 2077.
From PC Gaming Wiki:
Native support works only in wired mode (No Bluetooth)
use DS4Windows for wireless support (Bluetooth)

the only thing i can think of is to purchase a certified microsoft controller, or is it certified xbox with a ps5 controller lay-out

Or you know, a nice multimodal controller that costs half as much as something like those.

I'm not really certain if i could recommend any of those without a certification. tbh, when i switched from a xbox one to the current xbox version, the old one was broke btw it was an eyeopener in terms of responsiveness and somehow game - quality. Also, after reading some article about how xbox would not support controllers without certification for the near future i had a pretty clear image about the future we as game enthousiasts are heading towards.

That feels more like Microsoft pushing pressure down on monopolistic practices rather than any altruistic means. And honestly? Screw em'. Big Blue tried this back in the 80s and it backfired hilariously.

Besides that 8bitdo had a crossover with Xbox a bit ago.

Or you could just not buy a stupid console and not care about "certification". This is GOG, we talk about PC games here, not consoles. The point of GOG is DRM-free and consoles are 100% DRM.

Not sure how that's relevant, besides the topic is about using the PS5 controller. Saying "get a Xbox controller" isn't helpful. Especially since the second post in this topic already answered the question.

I'd like a controller for the PS5 with XBox Layout :)

Sadly there are only "Pro" models for competitive shooter players and they miss hatic feedback and similar features.

For PC you don't need a XBox certification, but the controller must be compatible to XInput and - for older games - to DirectInput. Als a new standard is being introduced right new, supporting that one would be good too.

I might see myself in a foreseeable future taking this specific comment with a grain of salt

I'm not familiar with that expression. Can you explain please?

From Wikipedia:
To take something with a "grain of salt" or "pinch of salt" is an English idiom that suggests to view something, specifically claims that may be misleading or unverified, with skepticism or not to interpret something literally.

You didn't. The OP asked about getting a PS5 controller to work and you mumbled something about getting an Xbox controller instead and Xboxes needing certification. Do you seriously not understand that telling someone to spend a lot of money on getting something they don't need or want is unhelpful?
