TheMonkofDestiny: Don't live your life trying to be universally liked. Be comfortable being who you are and not worrying about what others think of that.
I'd also add to that: people may "like" you if you don't express your opinions and always agree with them... but that's a really boring and unworthy way of living. :D

As long as you voice your own opinions, on the Internet in particular, even if they are "popular", you're always open to be criticized back AND people using such cowardice tactics to "get back at you". Maybe it's unfair that way, maybe there are better alternatives for healthy discussions on the Internet, but it is what it is. :/

I was going to mention something similar myself....I could give away thousands of dollars or give people the way to eternal life and they'd still low rate it either because they are trolls or they are NPCs who see certain people and hit that minus button.

(Check out my posts ITT for evidence of that.....I am the only one here low rated atm)

Also some people have extremely left field ways of negatively interpreting the things you say.... ways of interpreting things that i would not have anticipated, not in a million years.... Any guys here who have ever dated women who have trust issues will know what that's like!

IIRC, there is one effect. If you have negative rep, you can't post links. That is the reason why RWarehall has to post the link to his sale spreadsheet in just text because he got similarly targeted and has negative rep.

Dunno what women have to do with this, but check it out...looks like the low rate brigade hit a bunch of people including you.

Imo anyone who hit low rate on almost of the low rated posts here should be getting a talking to for breaking forum rules & perhaps a leave for a bit from the forums.

They should fix it so that you cannot vote unless you actually contribute with your own post to that thread.

The first one is ok but not needed if they just made it so either people could only up/down rate so much a day and/or made all such ratings public so they could be tracked and transparent.

The second I think is a bit unfair, as sometimes I want to just read new posts and not reply, and also rate accordingly.

If it applied just to posts others would still use it to make people look untrustworthy through association(I am guessing there are a few who don't talk to some who have many low rated posts out of a misconception those people are somehow "bad").

As for doing away with it....another user told me they talked to CDPR staff and those staff told the other user I talked to that the rep system was discussed and they have no plans to get rid of it....make of that what you will.

Actually, that is exactly what i am saying is unfair.... voting on peoples posts without contributing anything to the conversation.

To me this is fair if the post is worthy of downrating and one has already added to a conversation, or if one just wants to low rate a very bad/spam filled post.....not if one just uses it as an excuse to low rate for no reason.

Also I still think public ratings/a posts per day rating limit would help more than that.
