What games do you suggest people check out? Especially devs and publishers who treat GOG users on par with Steam users / games that aren't missing important patches / updates, and games that people might have missed / don't have many reviews?

I know that's not the point of this thread, but kind reminder to anyone who has a decent backlog: think twice before buying new games if you don't intend to play them or don't have time to do so. You get a 100% discount, the best possible, if you don't purchase anything.

Mortal Shell - Digital Deluxe Edition

This is one of the things I most enjoyed playing this year. It's a soulslike game, and this bundle includes the roguelite DLC, which is very well done, and adds a lot of replayability. It is currently available at a stupid discount.

Then again, if you want to have some game(s) in your collection/backlog, it's not ideal to wait for a 100% free giveaway.
Sometimes games get pulled from stores, some never come back, so it might be better to take advantage of that 90% discount than never have the game at all.

I have waited a couple of times too long, and those games are now gone and presumably never come back.

On the other hand, I have a ridiculously big backlog, thanks to bundles, giveaways, and holiday sales, so I totally support your point of view as well.


I have a practical advice, in case someone cares.
Before you buy anything, decide how much you are going to spend. Then go check what kind of discounts there are, and try to get as many games as possible for that money, or alternatively, as many personal favourites as possible. Or some other criteria.
Then it's kind of like a game of trying to optimise your resources, trying to find some combination of games that gives the most back for the money you are spending.

But, but.... MOAR GAMES!!!!!

And bigger is always better, so if the game is 100GB+, then it must be good.
