darthspudius: Pretty much this. But at the same time the amount of people that owned the game that complained that they were taken down in the first place was a bit strange. I mean if you own them, why is it such a concern. I can understand for those that missed them first time round but it's all a bit blown up and exaggerated.
It is a concern for any platform that loses games and is not capable of regaining them - both are concerns in their own right..

It then has the potential to hurt future growth; anyone who would find gog via the purchase of these games (they are classic games that will always have this effect) and stay here as a result will no longer end up doing so. Anyone who just hears the negative news and thinks the site is not worth trying as a result before even getting here will be lost sales etc. And it also helps the competition - competition that hardly needs the help.
Sorry for the bump, but it's like a deja-vu.

I'm away travelling for the past week. Only here for Mafia and subforums. Today just happened to click General Discussion and Boom! Diablo.

Reminded me of that time I first saw Doom here.

Seriously nice job! Whoever did the negotiations with Blizzard deserves a big bonus (hopefully out of the forum developers' pocket).

Travel more, it seems to have a positive effect on GOG.

I'm starting a gofundme to send you out travelling for a week every month.

Go away now and don't come back before another week has passed. Hopefully that will be enough to bring us something else highly improbable like Age of Empires, Dishonored or Half-Life.

Or make it a month long absence and we'll have a Half-Life 3 exclusive Gog release!
Lets build him a rocket and send him to Alpha Centauri. Imagine the amount of new old game we would have! \o/

I'm not sure it's a good idea. The games appear to arrive upon ZFR's return. Given current space travel speeds, by the time ZFR's corpse is back we will all be dead and probably life as know it won't exist on Earth anymore so only the aliens will be able to enjoy the new Gog old releases.

Just think what GOG could accomplish if you were gone for a year? =P

Oh so that's how it works. :/
So I went to the grocery store and came back. Any new releases?

Yes. TinyE released a picture of a pimple in his, erm... backside.

We really need you to stay away longer.
