So I joined gog.com about a year ago and since then I have been pretty religious in my purchases. Just yesterday I bought M&M8 and as I was playing today, I was totally flooded with nostalgia and reminded of just how engrossing a game could be. I know that I am not dealing with a typical gaming crowd here, I am dealing with people who put gameplay above all else and that is what I need. So I come to you with a very specific question:

I play games during class (bad I know, but my classes are extremely dull and I am still keeping an A average) or during slow hours at work.

I am looking for a game that is:
-Very engrossing (RPG, Adventure, TBS)
-Somewhat slow-paced so that I can take a moment to jot down notes for class
-Able to be played in a window so I can switch back and forth to my notes if need be
-Graphics are not important, in fact, if it can be run on an Intel integrated card it would be best so I don't have to use my louder dedicated GPU.

Before responding, I have bought Baldur's Gate 1&2, Jagged Alliance 2, M&M8, Heroes of M&M 3+4. These are all good games, especially JA2 and MM8; I just cant get into the others like I did MM8.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Masters Of Orion 2 is a great TBS that you might like.
I forgot to mention that I bought Master of Orion 1+2 pack and I do play them from time to time but I feel like I dont enjoy them as much as other people do
How about Master of Magic?
Any of the Age of wonders games?

Also realms of arkania might be ok.
Adventure:
- The Longest Journey (one of the best adventure games I've played. It has very good story that keeps you on your toes all the time. Puzzles are rather good, but I suggest you should use a walkthrough for the first one - it's hard as hell in a way of "illogical mess". Plus you can't die in this game. There should be a demo somewhere, try it before buying because game uses some minor acceleration for rendering characters and may work wrong with your card)
- Syberia 1 & 2 (it's something like The Longest Journey, but in toned down "fantasy" setting with automatons and mammoths :P. It has very nice story and good puzzles. Environments are marvelous, I often open this game just to enjoy some views. Syberia 2 is direct continuation to the first game, I haven't finished it yet, but so far it's good. There is a demo for Syberia 1, check it to see if characters render properly. It's very short demo and you should really treat it like a benchmark, because there is much more to this game than things shown in the demo)

RPG:
- Fallout 1 and 2 (post apocalyptic setting, good story, turn based combat, it gives orgasm every time you play it)

Strategy:
- Caesar 3 (it's not turn based, but you can slow the time or just pause it :P. It's kind of mix of sim city and basic rts game, but set in ancient Rome. It plays very nice, there are many missions to complete, each one has set of goals to accomplish. You have to build roads, houses, aqueducts, theaters, schools etc. etc. to make a prospering city full of happy citizens. Sometimes you have to defend it using your army. There is quite deep economic layer in this game, lot's of possibilities! It's fully 2D, shhould run without problems)

- Disciples 2 Gold (something like Heroes 3. Turn based strategy, where you have one character with army. You can develop your characters skills, build cities and upgrade buildings. Each building gives you some soldiers or monsters, like in homm. Combat system is different. Every unit is static, you can't move them around, just choose their positions; 3x2 for your army and same thing for your opponent. It works quite well and is entertaining. It has beautiful 2D graphics.)

I don't know if those games work in windowed mode. I'll try to update the list after I get up.
Good night.
Adventure: Gabriel Knight 1 (100% can be played in window)
RPG: Fallout and Planscape Torment
uFo Afterlight - modern day version of the old X-COM games. Lots of stop pausing. Not sure if you can run it in an window (it defaults full screen) but I thought all games could be run in an window.
Farmville is pretty awesome.

((( DUCKS )))
As a "responsible" adult, I feel like I should encourage you to pay attention in class. As GOG's marketing-bot, I should encourage you to play our games. I am conflicted. :P

I think the Baldur's Gate RPGs may apply, since you can always pause the game and it runs well enough in windowed mode on my PC.

Also, for sheer awesome, the Jagged Alliance games would also probably suit you right down to the ground.
There's always Jagged Alliance 2 with v 1.13 mod. The Perfect Game.
Call to Power 2. It's basically Civilization with a few differences. It's quite a challenge but it's a turn based 4x strategy so you can drop in and out as you want to.
Or you could try Original War. Unique RTS that is still an RTS - it's not unique like Sacrifice or Citizen Kabuto by perspective or control scheme, but by mechanics. And it's also quite slow. And has quite a good, branching story - and terrible voice acting.
I don't think any other comments are needed from me
