I'm cautiously optimistic, all of your comments are highly justified because many if not all alien games were overhyped and really bad. Only good one I remember is the first AvP and only because it offered you a chance to play as a xenomorph. I too think this will crash and burn since it doesn't aim for the FPS market. It's very niche with the current premise. Looks nice but it can change overnight.
Also, creative assembly as a developer. That really raised an eyebrow.
I think the biggest point you're all missing here is this:

Creative Assembly makes strategy games, not survival horror games. Why Sega would give it to CA, considering CA ONLY makes TW games, and a lot of stinkers in that area lately as well. (Rome TW II)

Oh and mobile TW games, sorry! Sorry, everybody! :D

They gave their last one to Gearbox, a developer known for their FPS franchises, and they proceeded to ruin absolutely every aspect of the development process and end product to the point that they could very well have been involved in some very shady financing.

I'll give these guys the benefit of the doubt on this one, having a history with the genre doesn't guarantee a good game, and not having a history in the genre doesn't guarantee a bad game..

thanks everyone for the comments, I really thought I'm in the minority for being cautious about this :D
Looks and sounds great. I can't wait to see it. Fuck the negative gearbox comments, so much pessimism!
Okay so no money-stealing Gearbox involvement = HUGE MASSIVE PLUS.
Instead it's gonna be made by Creative Assembly who makes Strategy games with R2TW as it's latest game which had a metric ton of bugs and shittiness when it's first released = BIG MINUS.

But I'll be cautiously optimistic about it and give CA a chance for they manage to get things right sometimes.
I don't think I can get hyped for anything Alien related anymore.Prometheus and Colonial Marines was the last drop in this fucked up legacy of a legendary movie.

Gearbox also screwed up Duke Nukem, so they had already set precedent with an FPS title that wasn't Borderlands.
This looks interesting. I will give it a chance.

Actually 3DRealms screwed up Duke Nukem, Gearbox just polished the turd and released it.
It looks good to me so far. There's every reason to be cautious though.

A single alien, inspired by the original design & film. This is a type of experience I had been hoping for with an Alien game, so yes. I am very happy with this. I also really like that this will probably be less of a slaughter-fest because mowing down hundreds of aliens while cool really doesn't do them justice. Hopefully there wont be too many human/ synth enemies. This seems to be a trap almost every alien game has fallen for, & nothing undermines the Alien as a horror icon more than having it's show stolen by generic gun-toting enemies.

Ellen Ripley's daughter.... I really really hate this. ha ha ha. Love the fact that they're bringing back some of those motherly themes & that they're investigating the first film. But that was basically Ripley's one reward over all the films that at least her daughter was spared from the nightmare & got to live a long happy life back home. I don't like that they're taking this away from her, but maybe it'll work out. Maybe the character will be really awesome.
I wished they let classic movies alone, the Alien universe has already suffered too much damage by bad and opportunistic sequels and bad to mediocre games.

Alien Isolation thoughts...

been watching a few of the vids for this and just had this thought (below) - yep i did post it in the comments but im more interested in what my fellow gamers here think about this. personally being a desperate fan i cant wait and ill prob end up preording and trying to get my hands on it at midnight as usual but hmm moving on from my insanity.#
...on the bright side it *is* being made by a British dev! lets pretend saga doesn't put its logo at the front and carry on from that thought...

outsidexbox Alien: Isolation First Gameplay Preview - Xbox One and PS4

oh and my thought:

"i wonder if the instinctive "run and hide action" mentioned ~4mins in is due to the fans knowing what alien is and what its capable of - thus it produces the back off instinct. it would be interesting to see if someone who has never experienced alien or any of its cannon if they would try tackle it head on and not do so. although how on earth you would find someone who has never been exposed to the universe i have no idea. also i want that polo! "

e: wouldn't mind that bouncing blue alien at 5.20ish too! .. that got your attention didnt it? it was a honest comment though.
