Favorite sf book is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, and movie i'm kind of between Alien and 2001: A Space Odyssey. I really liked 2001's ideas but there were definitely some scenes which felt as if they went on for too long.

Anyway, thanks for the giveaway!
F. Herbert: Dune.

In for Spinorial, thank you.
Thank you for the giveaway!

Movie: Back to the Future
Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Book: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
Movie: Matrix
Cool giveaway!

Really hard to pick favorites when it comes to this, since there's so much good stuff. In the movie category I think it's Alien and Rendezvous with Rama for the book.
Thanks for your generosity, mondo!

Please, count me in for Spinorial. ;)

It's hard to choose only one example of each, but:
- Book: Foundation series
- Movie: Dark City

Thanks for the giveaway!
Count me in.

Book : Dune
Movie : Aliens
this is tough. Sci-Fi tends to be my favorite movie genre but not my favorite book genre.
i tend to read horror & dark fantasy more than Sci-Fi. i dont know why that is.
as far a books go.

Fahrenheit 451: Ray Bradbury

now, as far as movies go. i hate picking just one. its pretty much a toss between these.

2001: A Space Odyssey
Event Horizon
Total Recall (the original)
Aliens (over Alien, anyday)
Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome
Dune

if i were to pick anime in that genre, then

Akira

thanks for the giveaway Mondo!

honorable mentions would be:

Brazil
Soylent Green
Moon
Altered States
THX-1138
Star Wars (only b/c its been gutted so many times, from the original 3 movies)
Sphere
Screamers
Robocop (also the original)
The Matrix
Cowboy Bebop

Star Trek
movie: blade runner
book: sorry I don't read much :P (hint,it's not a title :pppPpPPPp)

thanks for the GA!

& +1! :DD
I'll one up you and also give my favourite game : )

Book: Saga of the exciles
Game: Alpha centauri : )
Movie: Starship troopers

Though, as I no longer have my book, game and movie collections anymore (had to sell everything when I moved), it's difficult to remember them all.
Book: Slaughterhouse 5 (counts right? Otherwise 1984, The Chrysalids or We)
Movie: So many sci-fi movies, so few good sci-fi movies. Maybe Star Trek: First Contact but I haven't seen it in 15 years so there's a bit of nostalgia factor.
I'm in.

No movie can win the throne of Babylon 5 on my head.

And for the book, I once read "I, Robot" from Isaac Asimov which contains other short stories too, that was really cool.
Thank you for your generosity, mondo. Please count me in for Spinorial.

Not my favorite science-fiction movie (that would be Blade Runner) but one I like that I don't believe has been mentioned here yet, John Carpenter's The Thing.
