This is NOT a traditional Giveaway. it is NOT free.

Hopefully twice will make it clear. If you don't like that, READ NO FURTHER. STOP HERE.

GOG dot com is not in any way associated with, supportive of, or as far as I know, even aware of this event. I did not ask, nor receive, approval of GOG dot com to do this. (Having said that, if they want to, or can, offer some assistance in this, I wouldn't turn it down, see below).

Now, with the "legaleze" out of the way...

EDIT: Sat., Mar 15, 2014, roughly 6AM EDT - Congratulations to Donsanderson who wins by being the one and only entry.

I've made no bones about how I felt regarding gog's recent change and then return to it's roots. I wanted to put my feelings into $$$$ and bought several games immediately since the return to their roots. One of those purchases resulted in a game code to choose one of six strategy titles. The choices are:

Master of Magic
Lords of Magic
Kings Bounty, The Legend
Disciples 2 Gold
Eador: Genesis
Etherlords 2

(Any misspellings are mine as I can't read my own damn writing after going to the trouble of "claiming" the code and writing them down).

I'm going to use my pre-order bonus code from AoW 3 (h/t cmdr_flashheart) to see if I can drum up some business for gog because I am really impressed with how they listened to our concerns and respected their principles and returned to their roots. So if AoW 3 is one of your purchases, you will already get a code for one of the six. But if you wanted TWO of the six, you may still want my code.

So if you'd like a game of your choice from those six, you will need to post a snipping tool screenshot (or whatever kind of screenshot) of the email we get after purchasing just as my example below. You may blank out the names of the games, their individual prices, and the order number, but that's all. Your screen name should be apparent as well as the total $ spent as well as the date of purchase.

Whoever's screenshot shows the biggest total amount in $$$ will receive their choice of one of those six games. The date of purchase must be MARCH 14, 2014.

Again, the date of purchase must be MARCH 14, 2014.

I don't expect many will like this "giveaway" or even enter, but I do think at least one or two will go to the trouble and so the higher total will receive my code.

I understand someone really gifted with Photoshop could do wonders with this so I'm doing this on a good will basis as it's been my experience the folks here are decent folks. However, if anyone at gog dot com wants to and can offer their assistance, then all I'd ask is verification of the screenshot .

PS: I admittedly did not read the full users agreement regarding use of these forums. If I read all of those user agreements, EULA's, etc. I'd spend all of my days reading rather than living/playing. So IF this violates a term of use here then, all I can I'm sorry, I throw myself at the mercy of the court, and hope that you will only ban me from the forums and not keep from downloading the games on my shelf. And there would be no hard feelings as I didn't read the terms knowing it could happen some day.

That code is part of the preorder deal of that specific game you purchased, everyone who preorder that game will get a free code for one of those six titles. The other deal ($5.99 and $9.99 codes) is for those who pay more for the game (those who pay in euro or pounds).

Besides that, not in.

Yes, I understand all of that.

Oh, I think I didn't understand correclty the post. After re-reading it, I get why you put it that way. Sorry for the confusion.

OldFatGuy: ...I don't think I was supposed to receive this as I don't understand why US users would get a code...
...it's the pre-order bonus. Lol.

No problem. I'm good at creating confusion. :)

Oh, lol, I didn't even know there was a preorder bonus. I thought it was a mistake in the codes for regional pricing thing.

Thanks for clarifying.

By the way, the new update for the AOW3 pre-order says that you can get some other games besides the strategy ones mentioned. So, you can change you giveaway rules if you want :]

Relevant paragraph:

"Another thing--when the pre-order offer was launched you could pick a game from a selection of titles. We did not give you the freedom of choice and we would like to fix it. If for any reason you're unhappy with the pick of games that we offered and you ended up with something you're not entirely satisfied with, we invite you to pick something else from our catalog instead. Just contact our customer support and we'll be happy to exchange your free title for another game of the same price range. "

I'm afraid of all of the details around doing that so I'll just leave it as is with a choice of one of the six. I mean, would tech support issue a new code, or do they just put the game you requested on your shelf?? If it's the latter, then there's no way to transfer that to the winner. If it's the former, there's no way to know which code to send until the winner of my contest chooses which delays things until at least Monday. Much easier I think to just stay with the one of these six games.

Thanks though, if I knew more about the details it might be worth doing.

Makes sense, as you like :] But I think Support might be amenable to giving you a code if you ask; at the very least, it wouldn't hurt to ask. It's your show, though, so whatever you like!
Quick question - you do want evidence of purchase(s) that we'll make tomorrow?

Yes, tomorrow. March 14. That's correct.

I'll wait until Saturday, look at any screenshots that are put up, and award the code to "the winner".

OK, thanks for the clarification.

If I may, it's a bit of an unfair condition, since someone might have made a big purchase today or yesterday, i.e. after the "Getting back to our roots" announcement in either case.
Just my 2c.

It's okay. My point though was to try to incentivize new purchases as a way to thank them. Previous purchases obviously need no new incentive.
