timppu: Good point, I have certainly used that too. Do you mean they get corrupted because you are telling the GOG downloader to download them directly to the external USB device, or they get corrupted also when you manually copy or move files to/from the USB device? If the latter, that sounds pretty bad, considering many (me included) are relying on external USB HDDs as backup devices. Then again, I have copied around those non-GOG game installers as well, without similar problems.
Manual copying. I haven't tried downloading directly to the device, so I can't comment on its reliability. That's why I always run an integrity check on the files after I've copied them.

I have sometimes wondered about that, and that is why sometime in the past I asked here also, do the file copying and move operations in e.g. Windows have any integrity checking (ie. it notices if the copied file is not identical to the original one)? Can you always trust if a file copy or move operation was completed without errors, there is no corruption?

Long story short, always integrity-check your backup files. When I first started following this policy, I found that maybe 10-20% of the files I'd stored for backup were corrupted. Fortunately they were all files I could replace.

That certainly sounds bad, and to me that sounds that there is something fundamentally wrong with our current (file) systems, if such file corruption can go unnoticed during file copy or move operations, irrespective of what is the physical connection they go through. Considering that with digital files even minor file corruption can be considered unacceptable.

Things like TeraCopy alleviate that problem (doing integrity checks after file copy/move automatically), I wish it was the default even if it increases copying times. For some reason though, I don't ever recall TeraCopy noticing any corruption during file operations either, even massive file copyings or movings (like several hundred gigabytes) from/to USB hard drives have worked fine. Maybe it is dependable in its file operations, or I've been lucky.

Wolf3: I've bought a ton of games recently and am way behind on downloading them. I can't recall ever having problems downloading stuff from Gog (note that I use my browser, I didn't like that Air download manager as it spewed millions of files instead of a handful).

But today I've had different games refuse to download more than 15-43MB of 1.5GB. My browser claims all 1.5 is downloaded, but the actual file isn't...it just stopped hours early.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with my Internet connection, for what that's worth.

Not sure what's going on. (I Hope I haven't accidentally backed up not-actually-downloaded games!)
Replace your Internet cable! with a BRAND NEW one! Use the DOWNLOADER and download ONE GAME and it's goodies at a time.

I had a weekend of Co8 planned, but every time I try to download ToEE through my browser this problem happens.

I've never had this problem before and I've used the browser to download my games ever since I first started buying here, and I don't want to use that GOG downloader.
Feb.23, and download problems still exist. Tried downloading several different games, and every time, at the ~250MB point, the download will "complete". (of course, that is garbage, since the .bin files I want are all close to 1 GB).

Smaller files are ok, though (eg. 180 MB)
I had this experience today.

Cleaned out my "gog.com downloads" folder, and voila, no more corrupt messages.
Constantly since December - figured it was my internet as other services are at a crawl, but dammit, if GOGs aren't more suicidal than all others. Too many GOGbears!

Edit: just finished d/ling Chains of Satinav an hour ago - after about a month of crawling / failed d/ls

Thank goodness I'm not alone!

Has anyone had any problems on Monday the 24th? I'm SO glad GOG acknowledged it, and it SEEMS like I'm working again today. Was seriously scared I was going to have to give up GOG :-O

I wrote to them on Friday, but when they wrote back today they just said to use the downloader which...well, you guys have given me more info about it at least! I really just want to do it through the browser.

And that's disappointing the integrity checks in smaller games are gone. That was a great idea!

Does anyone know when this problem started? I'm now left not 100% sure if the games I've downloaded recently are actually complete. I've caught a few that clearly AREN'T from the past week or so, so just sort of comparing the download size to what GOG says it should be and hoping for the best.

From reading this thread, it sounds like if an installer says it has a digital signature, that that means for sure it's NOT corrupt? That's handy to check smaller games.

I'm just soooo relieved I've got GOG back and I wasn't alone! I always figure if a ton of people have a problem, they can't ignore it, while if it's just me I'll get blown off.
