Developer BioWare is working on a new game in the popular Command & Conquer series, it said Saturday at the Spike TV Video Game Awards.

The Mass Effect creator is heading up Command & Conquer: Generals 2, a sequel to the real-time strategy game originally released by BioWare parent company Electronic Arts in 2003.

In a statement released later Saturday night, EA said the game will be released exclusively for PC in 2013.

Your thought? BioWare working on RTS game? Interesting.

EDIT:
More info:

The game is set in a near future where global peace is a real possibility. However, with all the world's leaders attending a peace conference, a terrorist attack wipes out the entire cadre of politicians and diplomats, leaving nothing but each country's generals remaining to guide the world forward. Given their area of expertise, the generals quickly bring warfare back in vogue.

Originally released in 2003, the critically acclaimed Command & Conquer: Generals deviated from the series formula in a handful of aspects. Most notably, the game eschewed the full-motion video cutscenes, and had very little emphasis on story.

Generals 2 will feature a single-player campaign told from a variety of different vantage points, as well as an assortment of multiplayer modes. For more on the game, check out GameSpot interview with BioWare co-founder Ray Muzyka and BioWare Victory executive producer Jon Van Canegham.

Well, it's going to be one of the prettiest RTS's, I guess. The story strikes me as a bit... stupid, though. I assume it's not going to be Bioware themselves handling it, but it seems a strange move all the same.
I had hoped EA let C&C die after the ultra horrible C&C4 coz I don't see any good coming out of C&C from EA. The only thing I liked about the first Generals are the nuclear animations. Bioware is making it now, so I guess all Westwood's old staff are long gone, /sad. I used to love Bioware too before they got bought by EA, but they're probably gonna end up like Westwood in time, that's if TOR walks the Warhammer Online path.
Saying Bioware is working on this is kind of like saying Obama cleans my streets.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOO

I wonder if they'll make Tanya appear in the game for no apparent reason and we get to romance her.

Make sure to put a clear icon indicating your dialogue choice leads to romance. I don't want to answer based on what I feel like saying and then have things I didn't expect happen as a result. That would be terrible.

Yeah...herp derp "Guv't leaders all dead."....durr....."Generals now in charge so they must want WAR" (I guess every country's chain of succession became null and void for some reason lol.)

It sounds like someone's been watching a little bit too much Gundam.

I am actually quite interested in what they'll come up with, even if it is crap. Generals was always a spin off anyways.

Edit: For those concerned with the logic. WW1 happened over less, and I think you're giving too much weight to the statement 'all the diplomats' ("entire cadre of... diplomats"). History has shown time and time again that a few key people can make a big difference between war and peace, freedom and terror.

"a terrorist attack wipes out the entire cadre of politicians and diplomats"

HAHAHAHAHA oh wow......

I know logic has never really been a strong forte in the C&C series' plots, but wow...

This is also the plot(sort of) of C&C 3........all the world leaders get killed.

Really? I didn't pay attention to C&C3's plot, but I thought that it involved some insurgency movements from the BoN early on. I got bored halfway through the GDI campaign, that mission where you have a bunch of reinforcements coming in from the Northwest direction and need to defend your base that's already been quite badly ripped apart by the enemy from the start of the mission.

I mainly played for the futuristic setting and the awesome cast for the cutscenes.(Lando of SW fame ftw.)
BioWare and Blizzard are now mortal enemies.

BioWare is about to unleash Star Wars: The Old Republic to challenge Blizzard's World of Warcraft in MMO.

Now BioWare is stepping on another of Blizzard's territories: RTS.

Damm them all

After C & C 4 and the way EA ruined the once great game i thought enough is enough now they want to do Generals 2 and my heart sunk even more. It will be another dumbed down game for the masses.
