Hi,

I just bought the witcher 2 on GMG and had problems installing it so was told to dowload it here and found a gem of a site :)

There is a game I have been wanting to play again for years and my question is am I able to purchase games here from the UK? All games are in dollars so just wanted to double check - may be a silly question but would rather be safe than sorry!

Thanks!

You can buy games here from anywhere (even Cambodia) and you won't be charged any extra just because you're from the UK. Enjoy :)

They all work, though some better than others. Your best best is to go to the specific GOG forum for the game you are thinking of buying to check. For example the Darkstone forum seems to have happy customers and no one complaining about the game not working :)
Looking at the Darkstone discussion boards, there don't seem to be any trouble with running GOG version on win7. GOG optimises it's games to run on modern operating systems, so vast majority of their games should: It just sometimes happens that there's some sort of common bug that GOG didn't squash, so it's better to take a look at the game's forum.

edit: another one ninja'd in this thread. I will eat your soul!

Most games do work without a hiccup for the majority of users. A few users do encounter the occasional problem, but it seems to be rare and few between. You can always check the specific game forums to see if there are any issues with it. For Darkstone, look here.
Welcome to GOG.com, enjoy your stay.
Wonderful thanks again! This game i have been after for many years i am very happy right now cheers!
Also, before going on a shopping spree (easy to do so unfortunately), be aware that GOG has a 24hour promo on one game every Wednesday, and a weekend promo starting every Friday. If you know that you will download, install and play the game as soon as you buy it, do that, but if you'd rather wait for the weekend to play, it may be better to buy on a Friday, after you've seen what the weekend promotion is.
Also, give your bank a call to see if they will be charging you a fee for transactions in dollars, seems like a lot of the UK banks like to do that.

It's not that simple. It depends on your pc.

First thing to do is to check gamecard. Mosst games are marked as windows xp/vista/7 compatible, but some are marked as windows xp/vista compatible only. That doesn't mean you won't be able to run the game for sure, but it may happen. (Like for example The Longest Journey is officially win xp/vista only compatible, but I completed it on my laptop with windows 7 64 bit).

But even if game is marked as windows 7 compatible it may be causing some problems if your pc has some unique configuration. If you are afraid of spending some cash on games that may not work, you should check games forum and see what people are writing about the game and if it's running on windows 7 for everyone.
Little tip :

DON'T USE YOUR DEBIT CARD!!

Your bank will charge you for the pleasure, I bank with Halifax and everytime I buy something from here with my debit card they charge and extra £1.50, this will be the same for Natwest and RBS as they are the same group.

I have started using a prepaid Mastercard for purchases here, but Paypal is also recommended as they only charge a few pence for currency conversion.

It do be work on me Win7-Ultimate(32-bit) edition perfectly fine, my good man.
Other than that, I cannae guarantee it won't be exploding.

And yuss, I R British, and buy games here quite easily. I would recommend you not using a bankcard to avoid massive "fees", and use PayPal instead (you can link it to a British bank account so it draws money directly, and not have to wait a week to transfer into the PP account.... ENJOY!
Yeah Darkstone also works just fine on Windows 7 64Bit, awesome game :)

With Paypal you can pay with your card through them to avoid the mahoosive bank charges due to the currency conversion!

The icing on the cake is that you don't have to worry about a visit from HM Revenue & Customs ;)
thanks alot for the help these forums are amazing!

Bad news i just used a DD card to purchase it and didnt check back before as I was so excited to buy it :) I bank with Lloyds so can i now expect a £1.50 transaction charge? I think I'll go with paypal in future then, thanks alot guys.
