Stars! is a Windows 3.1 program. This means it can't run on 64-bit Windows, which means GOG would have to distribute Windows 3.1 with the game so they can get it running with DOSBox (and they most certainly cannot do that).

However, if you have a copy of Windows XP ready, you should have no problems installing it there; I didn't. 32-bit Vista or 7 might also work, but I haven't tested that.

I would much rather see the never released but (almost) done sequel to stars: Stars Supernova genesis. *sighs* Oh SSG, we had such high hopes for you.
Yes I want Wizardry but it's not very likely.
what,no daily dose?

Time to update it, Thief and Deus Ex are in the voice bubble.
You can have "The Ultimate Wizardry Archives" at Amazon for only $99.95 = )

http://www.amazon.com/Ultimate-Wizardry-Archives-Pc/dp/B00001QEP9/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1328569098&sr=8-1

But beware Wizardy games are very very hard with permanent death. And if you want to play Wizardy 2 and 3 you have to import from Wizardry 1.

Stars! is awesome. Still play it because it works fine in Wine.

Have been seriously considering making a (cross platform, open source) Stars! clone..

I do think Stars! could be made to work on 64 bit Windows with the right emulator. There must be one out there! After all, if we can emulate old 8-bit consoles and DOS on Windows, surely there is a way to emulate Windows 3.1? (or run Stars! in DOS mode somehow?)

I second Stars! Supernova. It would have been awesome. Oh, if only they hadn't sold the rights to a company that bought them purely to stop development so that they could release some crappy game of their own that nobody remembers. :P

What game was that? I can seriously not remember it (and yes that was a serious question).
