HoneyBakedHam: I have me some fond memories of the wonky but fun Interstate 76 Multiplayer. I think if RAGE is half as good at the car aspect of the MP game, I'll dig that.
I doubt the music will be as good. But at least it's not using the Mechwarrior engine. So I think it should be a lot less clunky.

HoneyBakedHam: Is it good? It looks fun.
I've had some fun with it; it's aimed mainly at multi-player, but there is a single-player mode as well. The aim of the game isn't to win any races (though you do get a bonus for number of laps completed), but to get more take-downs than anyone else.

Jwrath: Megarace 2, one of the classic ones and of course Carmageddon 1 + 2

Flatout and Burnout Paradise have awesome physics and great graphics.
I've owned Megarace 2 and played the heck out of it, before selling it to a friend (I think it is basically the only game I ever got rid off). I also own Flatout and Burnout Paradise, but they're not what I'm looking for right now.

Post Apocalyptic Mayhem looks interesting... though, what is it with these vehicular combat games that they NEED to be post apocalyptic? Why can't I murder drivers in nice suburban landscapes anymore?

Death Track Resurrection if you can find it VERY cheap. It's not a bad game but like a lot of 1C imports the VO is extremely poor. There isn't even an attempt to match the English VO with the Russian lip-sync.

Edit: I guess Need for Speed Hot Pursuit would also count as a car combat game as it has weapons sorta. I loved it, others didn't.

Maybe someone should commission artistpavel to rework the VO?

Seconded. It's actually quite fun. But definitely a budget price game.
Carmageddon 1 number one car combat game ever created. Then goes Carmageddon 2.I really hope ill be seeing these on gog soon. And third place Twisted Metal 2 on PS1.
I've played a bit of Death Track Ressurrection in the past. But I don't remember enjoyining it a whole lot. Maybe I'll try again in the future.
I used to love Twisted Metal and Vigilante 8, don't think they were on PC though.

There's a PC version of Twisted Metal 2 out there. And that's it.
It's a shame Gremlin didn't port N20 to PC. I mean, they did so well with Whiplash. As it stands, the next best thing is Pyroblazer, on Steam $5. I'd try out the demo first, as it's one of those "either you love it or you hate it" dealies. Metal Drift is a hybrid Racing/Tank/Soccer(Football) game, with a decent botmatch system, but it's mostly online multiplayer, and I haven't seen anyone online for months.

Well at least it is the best of the PS1 TMs (imo anyway, but I think it is the fave of most) that has a PC version.

Just tried the Pyroblazer Demo. I didn't like it. Not enough speed sensation, not enough flow. You just keep ramming into the sides of the tracks.

I tried Metal Drift demo the day it became available, because it reminded me of Deathdrome. Nowhere near as fun.
This thread just reminded me about the good times I used to have with Streets of Simcity. What a terrible game.
