Welcome to where time stands still. No one leaves and no one will.

Sanitarium, a psychological thriller of an adventure game, taking you deep into the deranged realm full of morbid and unsettling visions, is available 60% off on GOG.com. That's only $3.99 for the next 24 hours.

I am alone in here. I enjoy being alone. I'd prefer to be left that way. It's a little bit cold here, but I don't mind. I'm comfortable. I'm not hungry and I'm not thirsty. I don't miss my mommy. Not anymore. I think I kind of forgot what she looked like. I just want to sit here and play with my doll. In the night time the angels come to cut her open. I can hear them whispering. That's the only sound they make. Their wings are silent, just like owl's. I pretend I'm asleep. Otherwise, they might cut me open too. In the morning I'm sewing my doll up, but with each day it gets more difficult. One of these days, I won't be able to fix her and I'll have to just leave her open. Angels in the night won't have any other choice but to open me, instead. Will you come again, then? Please sir, will you come to sew me back up? I would like that. I think I'd prefer to sit here, alone and whole rather than be left open. Can you promise me, sir?

Sanitarium is one of those games that you don't forget easily. Gameplay-wise, it's a traditional adventure title with top-down isometric visuals, and not much gimmicks. But when it comes to the story, this one takes you way out of any sane man's comfort zone and puts you in the middle of an insanity-fest. Your surroundings are creepy, the characters you meet are eerie, and the protagonist has no memory of his past. Tiptoeing over the fine line that separates life and death you try to unveil the terrifying reality hidden behind the horrors of your character's visions. If that's not the perfect premise of a psychological thriller game, than we truly don't know what is.

Dare to cross over into the twisted, deranged world that engulfs all who visit the Sanitarium, for only $3.99 on GOG.com. The Classic Gem Promo 60% off discount offer lasts only until Tuesday, March 4, at 10:59AM GMT.
Nice adventure game, I recommend it.
One of the best adventure games ever. A must-play for everyone! BUY IT! :-)
mother's coming! MOTHER'S COMING!

a perfect psycho adventure, 5 thumbs up :)
Oh Mother

Yeah this is one of the best adventure games I have ever played
I bought Sanitarium here almost exactly one year ago, I'll take this promo as motivation to finally play my copy.
The game is awesome even though one or two chapters are lame (I'm looking at you Aztec empire!). And some chapters are absolutely fantastic, for example aforementioned Mother (and no, I'm not looking at her, she is too scary). Wholeheartedly recommended!
tempting...
I never liked the controls in this game, but that's just me.
Everything else is great (story, characters, puzzles and design, even the bad guy.)
I can recommend it to adventure game fans and newcomers to the genre alike.

P.S.

Praise be to BOB, the holiest of all BOBs ;-)
Finished this the second time just recently. Quite enjoyable, albeit I found couple of the chapters a bit boring. But rest was quite nice.

A word of warning: on some PCs there may be persistent crashing issues. I first played the game on one Win7 laptop and everything was peachy (as long as I ran the game as an administrator, otherwise it wouldn't start), until two later chapters. It started crashing at certain specific points very frequently, making it very hard to play the game.

Then I installed the game to another Win7 PC and continued from the save game there => no problem. But I have no idea if this second PC would have had problems with some earlier chapters, as I didn't play it from start to finish there.

So, either the game works great for you, or you might have crashing issues, which you might be able to overcome by either fiddling with the game compatibility settings, or retrying the same part several times, maybe a bit differently from earlier save games.

So, remember to keep some earlier save games available from earlier chapters. The game has quite a few free save game slots.

Funny, I liked that chapter. You don't always get to play a (demi)god.

The boring chapters for me were, in this order:

- Circus (come on, isn't that quite a cliche? What is this, the Darkman movie?)
- The asylum where you play some records
- The chapter where you are the powerful cartoon character was also maybe a bit boring.

But I recall liking the rest of the game.

Right now this game is unplayable on my outdated machine: it crashes ALL the times on the VCR scene, no matter how I try to fix the problem...
I'll have to wait until I get a decent rig! Maybe the new drivers will do the trick. Meanwhile, it will have to gather some digital dust on my collection shelf! :(
As someone who hates adventure games in general, I can tell you that this is a must-buy .

A-MEN for that, Preacher!
Does this game still have problems with ATI graphics cards? Last time I checked, the new ATI drivers caused the "messed-up colors" issue to reappear on Windows 7 machines, as well as messed up other games on GOG like Darkstone.

I've played it on ATI card 3 years ago and it was fine. Buy it and keep in mind, that you can use Money Back Guarantee if necessary :-)
