You might have heard that the guys at Stainless Games have been trying to Carmageddon + the Splat Pack if you back the Kickstarter project for $25 or more!

In case you aren’t aware of what Carmageddon is, let’s take you a brief tour of gaming history. It’s the late nineties, and Stainless Software Ltd. brings a game that bursts onto the scene in a spray of blood, a crash of steel, and a anguished shriek of pedestrians when they released Carmageddon. It’s an ultra-violent racing game--this is not one for the kiddies!--where you crash, rend, crush, crumple, and demolish your way to victory. There’s a backstory of sorts--the world has gone to pot, and you’re racing in order to survive in a car-eat-car world--but that’s not the point.

Your job is to win races. Sure, you could play the game like a realistic racing simulator, avoiding any fender-benders and pedestrians. You can even win all of the races that way if you’re talented. But the real fun comes from pulling wild stunts, wrecking and collecting your opponents’ cars, and generally wreaking havoc on the track. Carmageddon launched amidst a lot of controversy due to its violent nature, but under the gore and impressive 3dFX graphics lies a great game.

This will be coming to GOG.com in the upcoming months--our crack team of contentologists is hard at work getting all of the bytes dusted off and all of the graphics buffed to a high shine--and will be available here for $9.99. In the meantime, though, if you want to help make the next Carmageddon game happen, you can back it on Kickstarter, and if you chip in more than $25, you’ll get the GOG.com copy of Carmageddon for free once we’ve gotten it launched!

Gentlemen, start your engines!
Maybe somebody from GOG can clarify....does the mention of 3dFX graphics in the GOG blurb for Carmageddon mean that the GOG version will have the improved graphics? Why mention that if the GOG version will not have it? Answer from GOG, please.....

Goblox: If you pledge $30+ you get 2 copies of the game when it comes out, does that also mean you get 2 GOG copies too?

tfishell: You mean one to gift, or something?
Apparently the deal is that you will get a code to use in a purchase to reduce the price to zero, so I assume it would be 2 codes.
OH YES!!!!
This, and finding out that the new Carmageddon is also going to get a DRM-free release after all, instantly made me pledge $25. Nice move.
I'm so filled with joy and excitement right now. I pledged a good chunk of change to their kickstarter campaign. Thank you GOG for showing up on Facebook with the news of their hopeful revival of the series, and your soon release of Carmageddon with Splat Pack on your catalog!

Have I told you that I love you?
Gotta love Kickstarter projects! The original Carmageddon was one of the first PC games I played.
I am so looking forward to this

mistermumbles: Never played this game series, so I'm looking forward to checking it out whenever it gets released here. It's definitely a nice PR move by GOG to tie themselves into Stainless's kickstarter that way. I'm not sure whether I'm going to bother to pledge though. *shrug*
Me too man.
what about Carmageddon TDR2000? we will see also that on GOG?
GOAL REACHED !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

THOSE WHO ARE ABOUT TO DIE, WE SALUTE YOU! =D

What a pitty I've found this information today. Find it tomorrow, it would be best Monday in my life :).

My most favorite network game, dominating over Duke Nukem, Destruction Derby, Descent or Death Rally. Still have that great soundtrack on my drive.

Merchito: Quote : "A game about mowing down innocent pedestrians and getting points for it was not exactly something the world was prepared for back then."

By "back then", do you mean that, since then, the world has changed in a way that makes perfectly acceptable to have fun in simulating a massacre of innocents? Has also "Manhunt" become tolerable in 2012 or shall we wait a little more before it can be released with a smile...

(And no, I'm not trolling. Just really shocked and worried at finding ok to have fun on cruelty.)
Chill dude, its just a game. Oh my.
I used to play Carmageddon on my buddy's monster pentium 1 gaming pc back in high school. This might be my most anticipated GOG release ever. I can't f'ing wait!
I can't wait!
MY BODY IS READY!
