Rohan15: I'll stick to my SNES and GBA emulators thank-you-very-much.

Tantrix: Hey don't ignore the PSX emulators. Gotta play some classics now and then!

The PSX library hasn't aged as well. :( Most of the 3D games don't even have dual shock support (curse you Megaman Legends!).

Many of them look fine when you apply the right filters in your emulator.

They still look bad, and more importantly play bad. Early 3D really sucked in retrospect. I can play SNES games still today but Playstation games are hard to deal with.
It was my last console I really owned too.
It must just be your sense of taste or the way you go about it then. I can certainly see that they're far more primitive than more developed 3D systems. There's no disputing that. Yet, so long as I keep the era in mind, I get used to it again fast and return to the "zone" where they once didn't seem so lacking in advancement. It's all about appreciating them in their own era, and ignoring everything else.
As I cannot read the article without being registered, I take it that this only refers to special copying devices that take the data from cartridges and other proprietary formats? Computers can copy many disc-based games, and rather than be stupid and make them illegal, I assume it's the act of using them for that purpose that is illegal?

Well what genres are we talking about? I mean, I guess JRPGs might be okay, but I never liked them much. Shooters are terrible on that system though, as are platformers. I guess it depends, but nothing in the PS1 catalog outside of Final Fantasy games are worth playing for me.
I'm sure being a 99% PC exclusive gamer might have something to do with that though, admittedly.

Obviously you're over-generalizing, but I definitely know the types of games you've seen that would make you say that. I remember a PS1 James Bond game in which, even back in the day, I had trouble discerning what some objects were. Most N64 games I still find appealing, and I just played the first Silent Hill and thought it was one of the best/scariest games I've ever played.

Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is still considered as one of the better sidescrollers. I'm not fond of shooters (FPS) for consoles typically, due to the lack of mouse keyboard, so I can't say. For all the junk on the system (something plaguing the Wii at the moment), there are plenty of exceptions. I do a lot of PC gaming, but I find that ignoring consoles means that I miss out of certain flavors of gaming, so I play console here and there as well. It's likely that you just haven't heard of many of these due to your preference for PC titles, but there's nothing wrong with that. PC gaming rocks.
Ah there. Read the other links. So it's the R4 devices that were banned. That makes sense. Nintendo has been fighting against this sort of thing for ages now.

OHMYGOD bump mapping! waaaaat?
My Nintendo DS was gathering dust until I bought a CycloDS card. Saved it from a dusty corner. I had bought some 15 NDS games, over half of which were crap and of which I had no way of knowing this except from reviews. Plus, the touch screen gimmick got tired real quickly as well. With CycloDS I was able to store all my games on one card, try all the games I wouldn't have bought yet and just have one device that has about 100 games in total.
