The game needs an always-on internet connection to work, though EA insists it's not DRM, and due to a series of server issues coupled with EA abandoning the game have made it unplayable. For all intents and purposes the game is gone, as such it has been removed from sale on Steam, but Origin seems to still be selling it despite the issues.
Origin = EA = lulz
thats too bad.. i played the open beta and it seemed pretty cool.
But origin is a complete joke.
When will they realize why always-on drm is a bad idea? Even microsoft has realized it.

You know EA. According to them, online activation isn't DRM, but disc checks and limited number of activations certainly are, as they demonstrated with Tiberian Twilight. And here is gentlemen, what can happen to games that are dependent on servers.
This complete lack of caring companies have for their games being playable in the future just makes me sooooooo angry. I try not to think about it, but I only support games that aren't inherently limited in function like that.

'Hey we put a ton of time and creativity into the storyline and art of this game but in 5 years we'll let it die and become unplayable because money and no one cares ROOFLES!"
This is exactly what would happen to the Xbox One if they had kept the always-online BS. Except that it would affect EVERY game on the platform, not just one.

This is BS, i have Darkspore on Steam and i was planning to play it at some point. Fuck it. I should get a refund, since i haven't even downloaded the game, let alone launch it, but i doubt Valve will refund me.

It's crazy, isn't it? All the work wasted because "Who needs old games when you can buy new games?"

Indeed. However, with this particular game there's actually a pirated copy available but I don't know if multiplayer works.

And why is the OP down repped?

Well that's good at least. I wonder if there is a functional one for Diablo 3 yet.

Either way fuck this bullshit. These companies call games art when it suits them and then let them die when it doesn't. I wonder how all the writers and designers at Bioware like the idea of their work on TOR and whatever else in the future being limited to 5 or so years before EA lets it all die.

Blah.

Weird, I checked all my latest posts and I don't see any marked as low-rated.
That sucks.
It would've been better if they removed the always-online requirement & require Origin for it.
I don't get the whining. Do you want a game playable in 5 years, or do you want leaderboards? Leaderboards are so shiny! Live in the present, guys
With EA it used to be bad that they killed online in the sports game (on xbox they would decide to kill older ones when the new fifa, nba would show up) but making a game unplayable like that is crazy. I wonder when will Simcity go down?

Not sure if serious or lampooning the idiots that do actually say this shit... (the word 'shiny' suggests the latter to me)
