Disciples: Sacred Lands Gold

Disciples 2 Gold

Want? I'm game for spreading the Disciples gospel and will gift these games to one lucky participant (or two; see below).

What do you have to do to win?

1. Tell us (the forum; reply to this thread) about one of your favorite characters from a work of fiction (game, book, movie, television series, etc). Be sure to include the name of the work or series of works featuring that character, and tell us why you enjoy that character. Try not to be too spoilerific.

2. Post your e-mail (so that I can gift you the game if you win) in the format: username(at)xmail(dot)com

3. Indicate whether you want one or both of the games if you win. If you only want one of the games (because you already have one of them, etc), another winner will be chosen from those who indicated wanting the other game.

What are the rules?

1. One entry maximum per forum member.

2. No repeated characters - if someone has already posted one of your favorite characters, choose another favorite if you want to be eligible for the drawing.

If you already have both games but would like to share a character anyway, please do so but be sure to mention that you aren't entering the drawing in your post.

The contest will run for between one and seven days (possibly drawn as soon as Tuesday morning if there are a good number of entrants by that time, possibly extended to allow greater participation). The winner(s) will be chosen at random from all entrants.

Oh, and: "Death to the living!" :-)
HK-47- the best assassination droid ever :D
Part of the Kotor series. It probably has the best written dialog from all characters. If you don't know what a "meatbag" is, you're not really a gamer I say :)

email: edited out

I have neither of the games but one would be enough if I were to win.

Any fictional character? Well, he is not my all-time favorite character of course, but lately I have been watching Monk and like him a lot. In some things I can relate to him, and in other things my wife can. Thankfully both of us do not relate to Monk to the extreme :-) But the more we watch the more we like this character. Two thumbs up!

Adrian Monk: This is my assistant, Sharona.
Ambrose Monk: Hello, we spoke on the phone.
Adrian Monk: Oh, so you can dial a telephone! I was worried. I thought you might be paralyzed, or something.
Ambrose Monk: I wasn't paralyzed.
Adrian Monk: I was being sarcastic.
Ambrose Monk: You were being sardonic. Sarcasm is a comtemptuous ironic statement. You were being mockingly derisive. That's sardonic.

My e-mail with the format above is tarangwydion(at)yahoo(dot)com

If I win, I let you decide whether you want to give one or two. If one, preferably the newest in the series :-)

Heck yeah! Tho it was Canderous Ordo who stole the show for me. I loved HK-47 but the limit of three characters in the active party forced me to leave him to man the ship while Canderous, Bastila, and I cut and blasted our way to Malak.

Not a perfect game, but neither the Obsidian sequel nor anything Bioware has made since has been as enjoyable for me.

Also, which of the two games would you prefer if you win?

I'm curious about the show but have never seen an episode of it. Watching the first season of South Park now but perhaps I'll shake things up a bit and try Monk next. It does have a good rep.
I really like Rölli. A Finnish children's character. Rölli is kind of a troll. He thinks that he is very scary, but he has a good heart. He wonders and ponders meanings of words and why do humans do certain things. There are also many songs that Rölli sings. In 2006 Rölli was also voted the greatest Finnish fictional-character.

If I win I could take Disciples 2

Not dismissing ToR (I'm waiting for it), but I really would have liked a Kotor 3 by now. Tbh they could have given it to Obsidian or some other company while Bioware is working on ToR.

And I don't really know the games but I see 2 has Win7 compatibility so I suppose that would be preferred in that regard.
The Luggage from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.

Why?

What other fictional object do you know of that can open itself up on pretty much anywhere at any time to retrieve anyTHING? And despite being an object, it more than qualifies as a character, as any reader of the books could tell you.

It has a taste for shark meat and high heels.

The Luggage is pure awesomeness.

I can't choose just one favorite character but I will say that I like Jeff from Community; he has some brilliant dialogues. In fact all the characters from this TV series have very good lines, any of them would have been a good pick.

I don't have any of these games so I have no preferences if I win. The first one is fine for me, for example.

Chances are Monk will grow on you in a positive way. When my wife first watched it she did not really like it. But then the more she watches the more she likes the show. She can relate with Monk on that criss-crossed button sewing, pole-touching while walking, cloth arranging in the closet, etc. So these days she really like the show, although still does not think a few of Monk's antiques as OCD but more as good habits, like the button sewing and cloth arranging mentioned above :-)

Oh and on second thought exclude me from this contest. I just read reviews on them and I guess they are more of strategic games than RPGs, and I suck at strategy badly.
Nevyn from the Katherine Kerr Deverry series... After a foolish oath, spending centuries to repay for a single mistake, and is such a balance between humility and earth-shaking power.

email is saramakos AT hotmail DOT com, and I am only after the first. I have tried neither, so if I win someone else can enjoy the second as well.

A Trollish children's character.... Fantastic! +1 to Finland for being great. :-)

rasufelle: ...The Luggage...
Sounds wacky but fun. I haven't read any of the Discworld books but I did enjoy Pratchett's collaboration with Neil Gaiman (Good Omens). Been wanting for a good book lately. Perhaps I'll try one of his.

park_84: ...Jeff from Community...
Haven't heard of the show until now, but cool nonetheless. I'll stick it on my mental "check it out" list.

Cool, and no prob. Still glad to have your recommendation!

Hadn't heard of the author or the books, but seems interesting from the Wikipedia entry and your recommendation, and there's a good number of books in the series, too.

Last: The contest will last until at least Wednesday morning since I plan to visit GOG then to check out the new features and new game.
I have this strange feeling that I might get ridiculed for this, or that I might regret it later on down the road, but the first fictional character I thought of for this was Vanille, from Final Fantasy XIII.

Unlike most other people, I did not find Vanille to be annoying. I liked the way she was always happy-go-lucky, and I just... Well, I just liked her. And really, who can't love the way she summons her Eidolon?

My e-mail: kaiscooter(at)hotmail(dot)com

I only want one of the games. I actually don't care which one, but preferably the easier one.

Sheldon Cooper from The Big Bang Theory. It's the only fictional character (games/books/movies/TV shows included) I want to murder badly each and every single episode and still, without him The Big Bang Theory would just plain suck. That's just brilliant!

my email : imraindel(at)gmail(dot)com

If I win, I just want Disciples Sacred Lands Gold, because I already have the other one.
Rincewind from Discworld.
It is the mix of stupidness, but also his ability to get out of the worst situations.

my email: gunnar(dot)steincke(at)hamburg(dot)de

If I win, I would take both, as I have never played any Disciple game, but looks promising :)

Consider yourself UNridiculed... I am also someone who actually liked the character! I almost thought I was alone it my like however!
