Okay... So as i understand it, before Duke Nukem Forever was released, certain people got a hold of a demo... People who pre-ordered Duke and people who bought Borderlands GOTY Edition.

Kind of a scumbag move to offer a demo, which is a sales tool, to only those who already bought it or something else you are trying to push... but whatever, I'm not gonna bitch any more about that.

But now the game is out and the reviews suck and I hear mixed things from different people and I want to buy it for some multiplayer action but I see no demo.

So, there are two possibilities.

1 - They aren't going to release the demo to the rest of us.
or
2. They have and I'm too dumb to find it.

Which is it? Why is there no publicly available demo? Does this strike anyone else as a BS move?
You can get the demo now on FilePlanet (http://www.fileplanet.com/210966/210000/fileinfo/Duke-Nukem-Forever-Demo)

But I guess they made it so that Borderlands people get first dibs is probably because they wanted to milk the sales of Borderlands as much as they could, hoping to get some more $ out of something that won't cost them anything anyway.

That file on fileplanet is a file called AprilFools.zip and appears to contains some sort of audio file. :-(

Oh I should have checked the date haha.

Sorry to have gotten your hopes up. I dunno, I guess it's not being released to the public then. Guess they don't want people to know how bad it is.

You can totally have my code that came with my Borderlands GOTY by the way. I can PM it to you.
I should have got two demo codes, one for owning Borderlands on Steam and one for pre-ordering on amazon, but amazon never sent my code. If they ever do I will give it to you.
I preordered and got a demo key. But I just checked and the demo isn't in my games list anymore so I'm not even sure if I can download it now.

Interesting. The DNF Demo is still (unfortunately) in my games list.

Do you have it downloaded?
No demos at all for console folks, I suppose the whole no demo unless you bought it situation does strike me as terribly odd.

I do not. I uninstalled it fairly quickly after I played it.

Well, I just don't know what the deal is then. They have taken it away from me. *Sheds a single tear*

If only our situations could be exchanged...

Yes, I assumed that as part of the first access club I'd get the demo before the rest of the people. It never occurred to me that people who didn't preorder and weren't in the club wouldn't get it at all.

Just like it didn't occur to me that they wouldn't release a map editor. Heads are going to have to roll for that boneheaded decision. Poor maps aren't that big a deal if you provide modders with the tools to roll their own maps and possibly mods as well.

Given that people seem to really hate the multiplayer levels, seems the least they could do.

If the modders can somehow hack the files out of the demo and put them in the full game to enable dev console/etc it might be possible.
