Can it be saga? I thought that it just had 2 games. I never have played dune 1. Dune 2 was good but I mostly don't like rts-games but wasn't it still westwoods?
Furthermore..
I thought wing commander 3 wasn't so popular. But in here it seems to be.

cymrean: Dune 1 would be great to play again. Dune 2 while it is the RTS that started it all would probably be very frustrating to play.
Dune 1 had some epic music by Stephane Picq , Just listen to this for instance:

The buildup of the game makes for an interesting crossbreed between adventure and RTS.
The cutscenes are fantastic/ They remind me of Westwood games, although this game was made by Cryo Interactive.
There is another Dune game. It is a third person action game, and it was released in early 2000.

A played a cpuple of hours and leave it beacuse was mediocre.

I think it was launched with the tv series.
I really liked
this version of Dune which i hope appears on gog at some point.

I agree on that one, but games based on movies can be extremely problematic to release because of the number of parties involved. I keep my fingers crossed that GoG will one day add this to it´s growing collection. The soundtrack included with the special edition did not appeal to me, too much New Age cliches there that totally mar the music when compared to the clean rendition on a Adlib Gold (best version, since the ingame tracks were written for that card) Unfortunately that card requires ISA slots which are not available on modern computers these days and rightfully so.
There was 4 games of dune.
Dune.
Dune 2.
Dune 2000.
Emperor: Battle for dune.
And the horrible third person game.
These are unforgettable classics. I guess EA have rights some or all titles. Dune games must come to GOG.

Dune was boring to me, sorry. Dune 2 was nice, I finished one campaign there (Harkonnen). Did not play the other both.

Dune and Dune 2 are different genres. Dune 2000 similar to prequel. It has extended game play units and improved graphics for modern systems. You like more 2000 if you liked 2.

It's ten years since I played Dune 1, though. :-)
dune 1 and 2 rocks... its not by chance developers of dosbox use that dune 2 guy in their site as a representative of the DOS era. :-)

It's likely that EA's license rights to the Dune universe have run out, and the Herbert family has made it clear that they have no interest in allowing those rights for anything but a blockbuster movie.
