I was just thinking about that game Dungeonsiege 2 ... not overly popular in general, but i absolutely LOVED it!

Anyone played it? Opinions? Recommend any similar type games?

I have played Dungeonsiege 3 but i did not like it much at all. It did not flow like D2, it was 'awkward'.

I have played Neverwinter nights, and i loved that game but the re-playability is spoiled by the pre set loot (i do not like going to the same spots and knowing what i will find there each new game). And such a shame they went to such lengths with the complexity of unit development then its all wasted because they don't give players enough in game information to truly understand it.

I have also played Silverfall which i also loved 'at first', but after some time i began to loose motivation to continue the game. What would have saved this game for me would have been powerful 'boss' enemies which would then motivate me to do the work to continue to build up my team and continue on.
DS1 and DS2 are in my list of some of the best RPG's out there. Shame Gas-Powered games couldn't continue em. DS3 didn't catch me as the first two.

Similar game could be The Summoner, another awesome RPG in my book.

Dungeon Siege 1 is gorgeous and has spellbinding music. Truly, though, it is a tremendous grind. U5 Lazarus makes it marvelous.

Thank you. While I loved the way it looked and played I barely had it I me to get all the way through it.

tinyE: What is U5 Lazarus?
http://www.u5lazarus.com/

It's Ultima V remade by insanely dedicated people using the DS engine.

Assuming you already own Dungeon Siege 1, Lazarus is free.
Where can one find 1 and 2 or were they perhaps only for consoles??? (Sorry for my ignorance, but I nothing of Dungeon Siege, but reading this thread sure has me interested. Also in Summoner, since I've also never heard of that one.

While I was waiting I found the site, but what does it do? And yes I own DS 1 complete. This might be kind of interesting.

DS is pc and I got mine on another web site I won't mention in here but it's name is similar to that of a really long river.

I was really really really enjoying it (I managed to track down it's expansion pack) but then I got an updated PC, saw what real games were and the last time I tried to go back and play it again it just felt like click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click with some mindless dribbling tossed in for good measure.

Summoner 2 is much much better and you can find it easily via emulation for Cube or PS2.

The siege games are sold on Steam....you'll have to Google search up their expansions however.

Really, it is Ultima 5 entirely recreated using the Dungeon Siege engine. The map, the inhabitants, the spells, monsters, ships, and story have all been modeled in DS. The music is very well done, also. Ultima 5 already had an excellent world and story. Rebuilding it in DS just gives the game a more modern appearance.

Downloading it right now. Of course now I have to dig up my DS disc. XD God knows where they are.
Thank you tinyE and carnival73.

I'd rather not buy it on Steam if possible so I'll look around some more on my own, but I am going to check out the game page at Steam to get a feel for whether I might like it or not.

It's funny because within the past week something else piqued my interest in the Dungeon Siege earlier releases as well (though my failing memory leaves me unable to remember exactly what that something else was).

I'm going to have to look into them a lot more.
Still dont understand why DS1 and 2 aren't here. BTW Steam versions don't apparently come with the expansion(s)....
Some interesting suggestions so far, thank you!

I now remember why i got into DS2 and became such a big fan.... because i was able to do co-operative multiplayer with my wife ----- (drum roll) with only one game copy!!! Hallelujah (fanfare and fireworks)!!! Just getting that right is too big an ask for most game companies it would seem.

don't know if that works for the Steam version, i would think not? So better to find the disk version?
