Here is PC Gamer UK's review http://www.pcgamer.com/2010/10/19/fallout-new-vegas-review

Sounds like it is good, pretty much the same game but nothing new.

drmlessgames: No, a sequel can be done with newer technology, and is it no way compatible with the older game's data. Did they just employ the GECK from Fallout 3 to make this?
That's the kind of logic I could pick holes in all night if I was so inclined. But I doubt any reasonable person needs me to.

I don't know if I'm inclined to trust the opinion of someone who calls a scorpion a lizard. But it's good to see some positive impressions of the game.

I'll probably try this game. It's likely a crafted end game. Steam only just irks.
Im reading the bit tech review. Seems like consolitis is here too, specially on the interface and dialog. I liked the mention of the pipboy being completely the same as in fallout 3. In fallout 3 the pipboy didnt look to me like the essential element from the Fallout game, but just another way to show the Oblivion stats/map.

Bethesda gave them one year to make the game, so I'm not surprised they didn't have time to make a new engine or change every aspect of the Fallout 3 interface :p

contract says they weren't allowed to do that anyway.
NV doesn't beat STALKER.

Where'd you find that out?

True, but they did change the important things. I've only played for an hour or so, but the game feels a lot more like a Fallout game than FO3 did. I have to admit that I really like the character creation set up. It feels a lot more like an RPG than FO3's set up.

back when they announced it.

Let us know what you think of the characters and dialogue. The Bit-tech review criticised them heavily but PC Gamer, IGN and Giant Bomb said pretty much the opposite.

I haven't done enough of that to have much of a feel for. I think the mistake they made with Fallout3 was assigning too much weight to the voice acting. The characters themselves seem more real so far, in that they aren't just waiting to get killed or completely ignoring what's going on. Some of the early ones show their humanity in terms of self preservation and altruism.

Like I said, it's early on, but I don't remember a whole lot of that in the previous game.

Wait, the game is out in America all ready?

Yes they get it today the rest of us get it Friday. Don't that make you feel all warm and fuzzy?
I'm looking forward to it, wont be picking it up until the price reaches reasonable levels though. Probably in 6-9 months or so. Still have a couple of hundred games to play through until then though (no, I'm not going to finish more than one or two in 6-9 months, if any at all).

Yep. I don't particularly care for that sort of thing, but it is out here. That being said, from what I've seen of the game it's definitely worth getting. FO3 was fun, but from what I've seen so far they've definitely taken the saying if it ain't broke don't fix it to heart.

On the bright side, I haven't encountered any bugs yet and the game feels big. I mean Fallout3 was a big game, but for some reason this game just feels a lot more weighty. I'm not sure if that's because they focused on making this more than just a Fallout themed game or what, but it feels much more substantial.

It's going to be fun waiting quite a while for the DLC which is apparently coming out for Xbox first then PS3 and PC much later.

@fisk0, probably not a bad idea to wait, this seems like a strong contender for GOTY and you might as well wait for the GOTY edition to come out.
