SirPrimalform: Yeah, most PAL games were slower for quite a long time unless they were actually converted nicely (Donkey Kong Country on SNES runs at full speed in the PAL version because it was made by a UK developer).

Crosmando: Is this for real? PAL games are slower?
I now have the obsessive urge to find NTSC replacements for all my PS1 pal ISOs
Yes, it's for real. The best (or should I say worst?) example is Final Fantasy X. Black bars at the top and the bottom of the screen, and slower gameplay.

grviper: That went on even in PS2 era, but some European releases would actually let you switch to NTSC.
Yeah those newer big budget games. There was some option which was called something other than US-version.

Well, there goes my monthly bandwidth, I'm not going to be able to forget it until I replace my iso's now :(

I still have FFXII ps2 game and that didn't have black bars (and forks.. err.. works pretty great in emulator) but I do remember FFX and hating the main character and those black bars. I even liked more of that FFX-2, the girly version of basicly the same game also it had Paine.

Do a background check for all of them first. Some PAL releases are screwed up, some aren't and maybe even have bug fixes.

Yeah.. most PAL region games were well made.. It's not really inferior product. But that game and it's bars were, well, there should have not been any bars.
In fact I'm waiting for FFX Remaster and Kingdom Hearts Collection, because those titles were slooooower on Ps2 here :(

But the PAL version of Final Fantasy X had the extra bosses and stuff right?

It did, and that's the stuff Square will be selling as DLC for the FFX HD re-release on the PlayStation Network (Or whatever its called).
One thing i miss in the newer Final Fantasy's is the world map. I'm sure they will find some way to turn that into DLC eventually.
dude, they are not going to go EA on us(hopefully)

Yep, characters, costumes, Coliseum/Arena fights, even an extra side-campaign/mission thing for Szaz, I think.
that doesn't count

So Final Fantasy 7 is now on Steam? But we can't f#cking get it here because of some regional b.s.? Am I understanding that correctly? I'm actually quite sad, given all the votes that this game has here on GOG, that Squeenix apparently doesn't want to let GOG bring the game here. I know that's a drop in the bucket given to Steam, but still, it seems so absurd to not allow it here given that Square Enix is already on GOG!

We can't get Worms Armageddon, the Duke Nukem expansions, and various other good old games on Steam here, apparently. I can't blame Steam for that - they're a games business just like GOG -, but there must be somebodies that I can unleash frustration upon, presumably developers or publishers.

(sigh)
