TheEnigmaticT: The discussion we had was more or less, "Yeah, any prank we pull will have 500 people commenting about the shutdown. So let's not do one this year." Short of defenestration, we've done about everything we can think of to express our regrets at the reaction to the site's shutdown while we upgraded it.
brother-eros: You know, I've never understood why people were so upset, I thought it was pretty funny. We were assured our games would still be available and it wasn't long before the baldur's gate teaser let us all in on the joke. I was shocked at first, but the clever wording of the statement was easily seen in hindsight.
Not trying to suck up to the administration in the hopes of free game codes or anything :) Seriously though, every time people talk about how upset they were by that I'm still a little surprised.
Learn this well, for it utterly defines all general human behavior:
Uncertainty generates Stupidity.
And as a token of proof that GOG will never prank us again, they'll shortly be releasing the 3 first games from this new publisher instead of the traditional weekend sale, so we may spend our weekend in good old gaming happiness.
Ain't I right, Mister *Enigmatic* T?
EDIT: *Sees the front page. Cries.*
You just broke my heart, EnigmaticT.
