Have you thought about replaying Morrowind, or perhaps playing it for the first time? Now's a pretty good time to do just that. Why you ask? This is why. Thanks to the fantastic work of community, and thanks to Kingpix who has created this compilation, everyone can have a Morrowind that looks really bloody fantastic (nearly Skyrim level of fantastic, really,) all the most important mods packed into the compilation, coming with an automatic installer (yes, it's fully automatic now - sometimes it'll ask you for your intended resolution or path to Morrowind, but that's it!) You still need to read readme if just to install corret prerequisities (DirectX, .NET framework, C++ redistributable,) but it has never been easier.

Anyway, this mod obviously adds some graphics tweaks. And major ones at that. It adds dynamic shadows (No kidding,) very light depth of field (note the blurred pole in the lower part of screenshot) and godrays, most of it optional. And obviously, distant land is added as well - I was always afraid that this change would somehow take away some of the game's charm, but Morrowind again proves to be timeless, and by the very design of the island actually manages to hide everything from your sight. It's really quite clever, makes me wondering if it weren't designed with distant land in mind.

That's not all thou. The mod introduces minor gameplay tweaks as well: for instance, plants no longer act as containers, and you can pick them directly as in Oblivion or Skyrim. The everpresent light from dungeons are gone, strength of light sources has been increased and only the parts of dungeons that have light sources aren't pitch black (and most of them do.)

Basically: Install Morrowind and grab the mod, it's worth it!

Uh, did you mention what it was called? I guess searching for Kingpix would probably find it for me.

This must be it. Cool, I guess it's time to finally try this game.

Thanks for the awesome link, looks like I will have to go there one more time ...

And you do know that picking plants this way was also modded into Oblivion ;-)
I played it with the overhaul compilation, it's a very impressive set of mods and the installer itself is just amazing. My only real complaint is that the game doesn't always behave properly with alt-tabbing, so I always quicksaved before I had to do that.
Thanks for the link, I have been wanting to go back and replay it and this just makes it so much better !

Well... Yes and no. It was in Oblivion from the start, but picked plants didn't disappear. In Morrowind, you got a container screen with whatever you could pick in it, in vanilla oblivion you used the plant and collected whatever you could.
Wow. That looks awesome. I was just wanting to start Morrowind again to see if I could actually play it for a long time and enjoy it. This might help immensely. Are there any major issues with this, or does it work with few hassles? I've never modded a game before.
I would use it but I just played through morrowind waaaayyyy too much for it to still interest me. Hope you guys might enjoy it though!

Mods for Morrowind generally work quite well, and I have used all the tools this mod is using at some point. All of them worked flawlessly, so I think it should be quite ok.
Would gladly play morrowind again, but I got spoiled by the teleportation system in oblivion and skyrim... and it doesn't feel great to cheat in morrowind by entering teleportation commands :s ...

If the new graphix are great thought, I'd really consider replaying it from start :)

THANKS ! + rep ! Gonna call you santa clause from now on.
OMG, thank you so much for this mod. I had never tried mods before so I'm pretty excited about this.
Thanks, finally a reason to play Tribunal and Blood Moon.

Got those two later, after losing my saves. Time to do it all over, proper this time.
