Can we add games unfairly praised?
Cause oh god the amount of reviews by sites like IGN that make me want to ask how much they made from writing it -.-

::edit to add::
You know I think the new Kotaku system might work where they state how long they have spent in game and where they are upto...

I think we already had several threads about Halo;-P
Alpha Protocol is definitely up there. I've only finished it once, as an assault rifle soldier since it was recommended everywhere, so I have no idea how the game plays with a melee/stealth -character (poorly, from what I've heard). But I thought my game experience with the soldier was a good one, definitely above average. The choices you could make everywhere were really interesting.

That's all I can think of top of my head.

But when the tables are turned, I've got a few more titles in mind. I mean, if the question was "what games did you hate, that were universally acclaimed by critics".
First of all, Saints Row 3. SR2 was like the best thing ever with a partner, but the third one is just too much over the top. It's beyond ridiculous. The game is also significantly shorter than the previous Saints Row games, the map seems a little smaller and it's not fun to explore at all. The AI is constantly on your ass shooting at you, even when you think you didn't do anything. And the plot sucks (again, it's ridiculous). However, most critics seem to think this is a really good game, the best of the series. I disagree, and was severely disappointed seeing how SR2 was so much fun. 2/10

Then, Mirror's Edge. It looks pretty, but plays awful. I can't count how many times I hit the ground because I couldn't see ****. 1st person parkour just does not work for me, with Assassins Creed it's a lot easier (and more fun!) The objectives were always the same: run to point B from point A, while dodging conveniently places objects and gun-toting enemies: repetition. The contrast between light and dark was too great, and I was forced to lower brightness every time I was outdoors, and raise it again when I went indoors. 4/10

Super Meat Boy: I just can't seem to grasp, what is so fun about dying repeatedly in an over-elaborate death trap of a level. Granted, I've only played this one for about an hour, but I have no desire to go back to it (and also, I'm not really a platform-type of guy). Therefor, no grade.

Revenge of the Titans: Aggravating, that's all I can say. I know it's not a traditional tower defense, but I HATE how the aliens won't follow a pre-determined path. You can create turrets all you want, until at some point the aliens just say "screw it", and run over all your turrets, leaving you helpless watching the demolition. -5/10.

Team Fortress 2: How is this so popular?? To me, it looks like a regular MP shooter, plus the menu interface isn't the easiest one to navigate. Still for some reason, there are tons of players and the trading market is flooded with different TF2 items. WHO THE HELL PAYS 100-200 DOLLARS FOR A GODDAMN HAT?? The game is just...weird. Giraffe/10.

I was thinking more every FF game since IV... most mario games... hell many Ninty games full stop...

you see... that's very subjective. it is your fault not the game. it worked for me for example and i never really had bigger problems with it but it was definitely not a smooth ride (which of course is not a bad thing.)

nope you did not. when you open a plan word document do you have to lower brightness too? the white page is how much your monitor can be bright. it can't be any brighter than this.
Therefore there is something wrong with your eyes, your monitor have flicker problem or you just made up stuff.

umm the game is HDR based when you go outside from inside you get a flash of brightness (like you do as a human) then it quickly fades to normal(again like a human)
Did you actually play more than the first level? Because theres parts of the game you seem to have missed... if you played it like and FPS and used guns you missed out the most challenging and fun part of the game. A play through with no gun is the way it was meant to be played.

So you're telling me you know better than I, what sort of problems I ran into? I played the 360 version, a promo copy, so maybe the problem was my TV, but seeing I have no such problems with any of my other games (amounts to about 40 retails), I'd still blame the game. I'm telling you, when I left outdoors, I couldn't see jack if I didn't increase the brightness on my TV. And when I went back outside, the massive whiteness was enough to burn images onto the screen in seconds. And onto my vision. Therefor I had to decrease the brightness. Switching constantly between these settings was a pain. And yeah, I do know about the flash effect; that is fine.

Yes, I finished the game despite hating it and dying constantly from falling, and no, I did not use guns anywhere else except that one point where you have to.

Roman5: Reviewers this gen are worthless, stupid, dumb shits who can't tell a good videogame from the hole in their ass

there are many games which got unfairly judged by "Critics"

AfterBurner Climax
Metal Slug XX
Raiden IV

The biggest one though is NIER which is in my opinion the best JRPG this generation
never heard of this game. any idea where I can find it... I happen to love rpgs and feel that I must try them all :)

PenutBrittle: Team Buddies. How did that get an average of 4/10? It's the most fun PS1 game ever.
Man I remember Team Buddies, I bought that from a movie gallery when I was a kid. I thought it was a great game to do multiplayer with. I thought that was a great game, the fact that people hated it surprised me.

It's a pretty recent game, but only on Xbox 360 and PS3. Should be fairly easy to find; I checked Amazon and they definitely carry both versions.
I liked Alpha Protocol,Mirror's Edge,Darksiders and Fallout:New Vegas
Alpha Prime.

Then again, I played it on Easy, after the patch which rebalanced the difficulty.

The multiplayer was amazing. I spent way too much time on my friend's Playstation playing vs. Team Buddies. Far more than any other game he owned.
Hmm... Section 8 comes to mind. Not a particularly original game, but very solid, and surprisingly deep and engaging. Pity that nobody played it :(

*raises hand*

And I agree! I usually don't play MP shooters, but that one was fun.
