Maybe this has something to do with GOG forum policy. Piracy, crack related talk also not allowed at largest forum in my country. The mods will quickly lock the thread.

Sorry Angel, i don't buy into your little theories that cracks and mods are the same thing.

A mod focus is content, altering, adding, whatever. If a mod, or a mod mananing tool, by virtue of how it's put togheter ends up being used by some strictly as something other than a mod that still doesn' change it's focus.

A crack focus solely on bypassing DRM/CP, and that's its sole use, the end.

Like i said, commom sense alone should be enough for anyone to realize why there shouldn't be any links to someplaces around here.

Even the official forum of one of the "bad sites" takes a really harsh stand against piracy. If you only mention you ever pirated a game you will get banned permanently. They maintain a strict "backup only" policy regarding cracks and the like. Asking questions for original files, keys or anything shady will get you banned.

GOG is a lot more lenient in this regard.

Or, you know, I don't share the same sentiments as you do on the issue, because it wasn't a question of legitimacy to me at the time of posting. So, thanks for commenting on my (lack of) common sense.

Your argument would make sense, but the Fallout 3 Mod Manager doesn't remove the DRM. The most it does is copy the DLCs from one folder to another so if you removed GFWL you could still play the DLC.

Not nearly the same thing as linking to the biggest crack sites on the internet.

Linking sites with cracks is wrong because GoG could get into legal issues for having them in the forums.

Cracking games is by craks of cracking groups is not wrong because, well, yeah, publishers allow it and they can do whatever they want with their stuff. Often, GoG doesn't even get source code as far as I know so downloading already created crack is the most viable option since decompiling and changing code is time consuming and even less legal.

No one questioned your legitimacy in regards to you wanting to 'fix' your legitimate game and i know there wasn't any mean-spiritdness juju in that post, i know that's not where you come from. Getting into it here, as you did, was nevertheless a poor judgement call for very, very obvious reasons, sorry bro.

Second: actual developers/distributors have. They may use crack teams cracks without even bothering to ask.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure Good Ol' Games doesn't have source code access. I saw a post about that on the DK2 forum, and someone essentially went batshit when he read that they couldn't fix the DK2 errors that way.

I already emailed GOG team asked them to fix POD glide2x.dll because it has minor graphical glitch. But they stated that they couldn't do anything because of legal issue, that's all. I nearly went ballistic, but then i realized this legal issue is quite complicated. So yeah, maybe they didn't have source code access for certain titles.

That's a possible issue, but the big issue is that it makes it harder to go to publishers and ask for a license to sell the games DRM free if there are threads on the site devoted to piracy.

I'm not Polish so I don't know what the law is like in Poland, but ultimately being illegal in other countries could still cause headaches for Mr. Gog.
If you need No-cd, I'd just use alcohol 120 or similar. I've found mounting a disc image to generally solve the problem. Although that depends upon the DRM involved. But, then again, my computer doesn't have a CDROM drive so I'm stuck with that either way.

And here I was thinking this thread was gonna be about some really cool gaming deals or videos from good old games (so we can get high while remembering them). It's a bit disappointing that the title doesn't have a spelling mistake and it's really just about game cracks.

You might not like the fact that the rights holders determine correct and incorrect usage of their copyrighted material but that's the way it is, and the way it should be.

Or maybe because, you know, you don't actually have to bypass GFWL at all in that game? Or maybe it's because you can bypass all the DRM in the game (GFWL and disc check) simply by using the completely legal and unmodified Fallout3.exe? DRM was never really pushed in that game. I think that GFWL was used only for DLC and achievements.
