We've already decorated our tree. We've started the sale. But seems like we're forgetting something.

Oh! That's right! It's not the holidays without a chance to visit GOG.com, looking for new and interesting ways that Coala has photo-chopped wintery iconography into them. It's a tradition that we're continuing for our fourth year!

The contest is simple: go through our catalog; we've edited 12 images, scattered across our wide selection of games, to include obvious holiday references, such as santa hats, Christmas trees, or reindeer. For an example, take a look at one of our screenshots from last year:

When you’ve got them all, list them all in an email to "contest@gog.com" with the subject line being "GOG.com 2012 Scavenger Screenshot Hunt". From every valid application we will pick 10 winners who got all the games right and gift them two games from the entire catalog. The contest ends on Tuesday December 25th 2012 11:59 GMT.

Or, I suppose, on the 21st of December when the world erupts in fire and doom. But if we're still around after that, then we'll end the contest officially on the 24th. ;)

JMich: Interesting fact, the 3 people who contacted me for hints all were having problems with the image that made me literally lol when I saw it. Congratulations to Coala for her photochopping skills ;)

jaron11: That one with dancer?
If it's the one I'm thinking of, it's not a dancer.

It's something pretty opposite to a dancer : )
I dunno, I could see it dancing... wouldn't be pretty, but still... :P
All right but your reaction to it would probably be quite opposite : )
That took longer than King's Quest!
It did indeed. You're welcome, Antmusic.

Eli: 2. I understand giving a hint to the ostensibly despondent individuals who've already torn out all their hair and are about to throw themselves out a window after wasting so much of their time - only to be missing ONE elusive game! I've given a hint to two such individuals. But if they've only done a couple quick run-throughs of the catalog, let them work for it like the rest of us did.

So what if some of us found them all during our first try in under an hour? The amount of time and energy we took as compared to others is irrelevant. What matters is that we did it honestly - we earned our entry. So cool it with the unrestrained hint-giving. I submit that hints should be scarce, and reserved only for the truly desperate 11/12ers on their last legs. Everyone can certainly do what they like, but every time we give a hint we hurt everyone's chances at winning a contest that we all spent our time and energy to enter.
Agreed.
If you go through the catalog, without enlarging the screens, you will still find 9 or 8, because they are pretty obvious.
If someone gives more than 4 hints, this would be realy unfair to other people.

I went through all of the games and found 10 the first time. Rather than go back through all of them a second time, I cheated: I wrote a script. Found 'em all. :-)

That... that was not fun....

Not participating but don't say 'no' some funny pics :)
Thanks Novotno and JMich! IT was really driving me nuts, having found 11/12!

Why would it dance? It's not like it has any reason to be happy. It's not easy being that color, you know.
