I mean, is that right? It's above all of the free games, even. I'm not sure how that's possible.

Earlier freebies weren't added automatically to accounts like JA. Probably that's why.
It's probably because it was added last October to the account of every user who joined before (or up to?) September 2010 as compensation for a certain fake site shutdown.

Ah, I was not aware of that. I wondered if there was some historical perspective I was missing, being a newer member.

Yes, I saw you were a newer member, that's why I suspected you didn't know about the JA-gifting event,
Glad to be of help!
Ignore the first 5 games on that list they were all freebies either now or at one time... in fact, you should probably ignore numbers 6 and 7 too, I think those were also given away for free in the early days of the site.

I don't recall them being given away for free; however, probably many users got them in the starting "buy one, get one free" promo. Also, for a long time, they were the biggest names in the catalogue, at least for many.
Was Tex Murphy 1+2 ever given away for free? I'm surprised it's one of the top 10 bestselling games, ahead of Baldur's Gate 2.

Yes it was. That's how I got my copy. :)

It was a Christmas gift. For some reason, I never redeemed it (yes, I am an idiot).

Yes, they were a Christmas present from the GOG staff in 2009; getting them was optional, though, unlike the cae of Jagged Alliance.

I'm probably remembering the BOGO deal then (it's been a while, burned a few brain cells in the meantime). Still, I don't think anything that was given away for free should count towards the best sellers list. I never would have bought any of the games I got for free here and I'm sure I'm not the only one... except for Another World, I did use a GOG freebie code on that one, but I probably still would have bought it anyway.

Oh, wow, look at that thing. I hope so.
I see... thanks for the info! Pretty cool of them to give away Christmas presents.
