cogadh: Ignore the first 5 games on that list they were all freebies either now or at one time... in fact, you should probably ignore numbers 6 and 7 too, I think those were also given away for free in the early days of the site.

tejozaszaszas: Fallout games were given for free?
This thread is asking about the all-time bestsellers (as pointed to in the original post). The bestsellers on the front page counts sales over a limited time period (a week?). Edit: oops, I failed at reading comprehension.

I don´t get the point on your reply.

That's because it doesn't make sense, it was I who was mistaken. Apologies.

DrIstvaan: It's probably because it was added last October to the account of every user who joined before (or up to?) September 2010 as compensation for a certain fake site shutdown.
I know, never look a gift horse in the mouth and all that, but I'm kind of glad I didn't even notice the fake shutdown and wasn't pissed off about it, because, well, getting that game as an apology probably would have pissed me off even more ... I'm still searching for ways to get rid of it. :D

(I would have accepted a Tex Murphy game though. Never tried those but apparantly they're very well liked and I'm slightly curious about them.)

I have yet to play it or any of the other freebies GOG has given away. Actually, that's not entirely true, I have run each of them long enough to know I will never play them again. From my perspective, there's a reason these games are/were free: they just aren't that good.

To be fair, I have to admit I didn't try JA either. But it's one of the last games on GOG I'd be interested in trying, it just doesn't look like my kind of game at all, and besides, this specific one seems to be a multiplayer game only?

"Beneath A Steel Sky" isn't a bad game though if you like adventures. That's actually a nice freebie (but you can get it for free on the ScummVM website, too).

You could get BASS for free years before GOG even existed and I even had it on my Linux machine a long time ago, but I can't stand point n' click adventure games. I really tried to enjoy that one after so many people told me it was awesome, but in the end it wasn't, it was just another really, really boring adventure game, just like every other one I've been told is "epic" or "awesome" or a "must play". I find those games to be about as much fun as working on a spreadsheet. I really do not understand the fascination with them.

Nah, it's neither epic nor awesome nor a must play but it is nice if you like adventure games, which obviously you don't. ;)
