misfire200: I hate the fact the guy loves the word unlimited too much.
Tech videos always look better than what they can do when finished. I will believe it if he ever shows hwo he is truly handling animation and more action on the screen instead of a static environment.
This reminds me of the great infinity space tech demo's that come out every two years and they are still years away from any kind of release although they are more open than this group and are looking at a kickstarter in the near future which is great.
I agree, this sort of thing is great for some sorts of things. I love the random terrain generation that some RTS and RPGs have, but I think that if it were really realistic that iD would have been already all over it by now. And if not iD probably the guys over at Epic. I think between them they have an astonishing amount of technical expertise on the matter.
But yeah, using the word unlimited that many times seems to suggest more wishful thinking than anything else. As an element in a game engine, I can see it, but we're nowhere near the point where we have the storage capacity and processing power to handle it. I mean, we can't even render raytracing in real time with enough detail to make it worthwhile.
