I actually just finished this game the other day.
It's a pretty solid point-and-click game, story wise. The plot takes some turns you may not initially be expecting. The world is also very dour which creates an oppressive world that wears on the player, and really helps you feel for the characters' plights.
It does get a couple things wrong, though. Sometimes it is VERY difficult to see crucial items that you have to pick up, and it's easy to miss them in a pixel hunt as they can be very smal. I actually needed a walkthrough for one part solely because I could not see a shard of glass that I had to pick up and use for a puzzle. Speaking of puzzles, they are really easy and don't require much thought to complete, which may be off-putting to old-school fans of the genre. The voice acting generally sucks, even if the writing is good. There are also some godawful shootout sequences that should have been omitted from the game entirely.
Overall, it's a good but not great game that does what it sets out to do, at least for the most part. It's worth looking into if you really dig 'interactive story' games.
