Gemini Rue = good times all around. There's some spotty voice acting here and there, but nothing really distracting.
Tolerate adventure games? Aren't allergic to Blade Runner? Get it.
I picked it up a couple of days ago, it's good. The graphics look discouraging, but you get used to it in no time.

I would advise setting combat on easy unless you like spending time on a really unresponsive minigame. The plot's what you buy it for, not the 6 shooting games. It has a good plot.

SpirlaStairs: I bought it around the time it came out but I haven't gotten around to actually playing it.
exactly... I probably wait for some cool rainy afternoon to get into it :)
I'll go ahead and recommend this as well. It's a well made game. It looks and feels a lot like the old early nineties adventures. The voice acting is just fine, and the plot is well executed. You will be playing with three different characters (though mostly two).

Many adventure fans love to hate action sequences in adventure games, but the shooting scenes are well done and add to the experience. And it's not like they dominate the game or anything.

I was disappointed it wasn't longer, but felt it was a rewarding experience. As far as retro-indie-adventure titles go, it's certainly convincing.

As you can see by the attached pictures, a basic search would have not answered the OP question sufficently. Only two threads had "Gemini Rue" in its title and those were last updated over 5 month ago.

The one initiated by you doesn't say anything about gameplay at all. The other one is about the demo. Reading through thread after thread on other topics just to stumble upon the hoped for information is nothing anyone would do.

Hence, I am objecting your annoyance/arrogance which use five exclamation marks more, than anybody should ever need.

Why am I'm making this post?

1. I'm somewhat of a dick

2. I'm bored

3. I get paid for beeing a dick in real life, so this is good practice for me

4. I don't like your "downtalking" tone (and yes, I am aware of the irony)

Stay classy, San Diego!

Edit: 5. I can't type for Sh*t

(There should be three pictures attached, one for each page of search results, doesn't seem to work. But I think you get my point...)

Take a guess and you can have my sword of the stars code ;-P

SimonG: <just search it rant>
I have to agree, I was ambivolent about buying it, and a GOG search did nothing to help. However on the IRC I'd heard people pushing it so I took the risk.

My guess at your job of being a dick (apart from the obvious of porn star), would be project manager, or HR employee.

Insurance company?

I'm halfway through this game right now. Should be done today. I'll just go ahead and agree with everyone and every review: great game, great story, unnecessary but ignorable shooting sessions. The voice acting is quite good for my standards. Many character's don't stand out, but no one is bad, really, at least as far as I got.

It's a great combination of the Beneath a Steel Sky ambience with Full Throttle-like gameplay. Seems a little short for $10 IMO, but I'd get it in the first sale if I had missed the Indie Royale.

I like the game except for one thing.. the character portraits.
They really look some kid made them in Paint.
I know it's a small studio and all that, but to me they just really stand out when compared to the lovely pixelly adventure graphics and decent voice acting.
Still, if you like old school adventure games Wadjet Eye is one of the last studios to deliver these in good quality.
My job has been guessed (well close enough anyway) and the code has been send. Thank you all for participating and join me next time, when I let you guess my hereditary diseases for a another free code ;-P

Did you notice that this pretty much also sums up the game "Blade Runner" ;-).

The demo thread here became the full game reaction thread, as it so often does on forums. Lots of info in there, no real reason to ask for the same stuff twice.

I will grant you however that bumping a demo thread is odd.

I never actually played that one. But indeed, I just finished the game, and was thinking that Blade Runner (the movie) would be a perfect comparison to this game's atmosphere and themes.
