Onox: But... even if gog starts using other elements than just the IP address to determine the price, couldn't people simply make deals with users from Russia (since currently they seem to have the lowest price for Age of Wonders 3) ? How will gog keep the situation under control ? Are they going to limit the ability to make gifts ?
I see it as a possibility that at least for selected games, you could redeem (hence, make gifts) GOG gift keys only in the same area.
I think Steam has a similar system, but it is optional for the publisher to decide (so there is no universal block for gifting between regions).
And it has nothing to do with DRM, in case someone wonders. It becomes DRM only if it affects one's ability to install or play a game installer that they have already downloaded.
