................for this world to stop hating. Can't find a.....good reason......

Well, you know the rest, so I won't bother you with it. Suffice it to say that i'm bored whilst waiting for my 11GB(approx.) game download to complete and I wanted to know......what do my fellow goggers do to pass the time during long downloads?(besides sleep...lol.)

Do you go run errands? Play other games? Watch TV?....and do you like to stay near the downloading console/PC to keep track of of it constantly or close to that or not?

At 24% complete after approximately 38 minutes, this is very slow going at any rate....

That's considered slow? Man, I've got it bad. I usually start my downloads at night before I go to bed. Usually, in the morning, they're done. However, my most recent big download, Bioshock 2, took about fifteen hours, maybe more.

So yeah, I usually sleep while I wait for something to download.
Depends on what platform I'm downloading it on really. If it's on my desktop I typically leave it going and use my laptop to look around the net or play something simple. If it's on the laptop I either similarly look around the net or do nothing and occasionally look at the download counter. :P

I should have exaplined it better....to me it's "slow fast">...as in not slow enough to justify sleeping or working while waiting, and not fast enough to be done quick enough to do something like make a sandwich either........it's sort of in the middle really.

Do you ever think that looking at the counter slows it down or speeds it up, even if it isn't true? I've done that before.

Get a cup of coffee and read the manual or equivalent.

Extrapolating from the speed of 1/4 of the DL (38 mins), you're looking at a grand total of just over 2.5 hours to complete it. That's not enough time to make a sandwich? o_O

Anyway, I usually do some of the things around the house that need to be done (dishes, laundry, cleaning, etc.) when I'm waiting for a big DL to complete.
I usually play something (Heroes of M&M or something else I can play in a window), or if I have some work to do (srsly!), I'll do it in the meantime.
Read a book, play the piano, take a walk, sleep, visit friends/relatives, watch a movie, play Duke Nukem 3D (it's like a "thing" to play it while waiting for something to download), go and stock up on food, or all of the above if it's taking just that long.

I also occasionally make loud, agitated noises when I'm trying to play a quick game and suddenly it's "HUEG PATCHH TIEM! Remaining time: 5 hours".

Sometimes I try to calculate the estimated remaining time in my head (or bet how long it will actually take).

I meant it's more than the time needed to make a sandwich and come back to find it completed......and also would require not enough time to justify long periods of sleep.

Make that sandwich, then clean up your dishes, mister!

I often feel like it slows it down. :P When I start a download I'll typically think "Awesome! This'll only take X minutes to get!" and then if I keep watching it that number climbs and I grumble at myself for jinxing it...
i'm downloading 59.2GB right now at 100kB/s
it's gonna be a long week... I'll have to run my life for it to finish

59 GB?!? For what???

That's one big file, if I do say so myself.
