Maybe I have finally outgrown video games ...

I read through all these press releases and my reaction to most of them is "big fucking whoop."

I look at that Halo 4 trailer and I just can't muster up an once of enthusiasm: I despise that blue chick, I couldn't give a shit less about the games lore, and think that the entire design behind the "Master Chief" (that is a rank BTW, not a fucking name, it's kinda like naming a character "Sergent" or " Rear Admiral") was dated way back when the first game got plopped out.

I'm on pins and needles for Deus-Ex, I really want to see STALKER 2, ArcheAge is making me drool while I patently wait for Phantasy Star Online 2, but outside of that I really couldn't give a shit less about what has been said so far.

Skyrim looks like shit to me, I have never played the first 2 Farcry games, anything Kenect/Move/Wii is instantly skipped, after having participated in a real war all the modern / attempted to be realistic games make me want to puke ...

WTF happened to putting effort into developing Video Games, WTF is left for me to be excited about? it's all shit, shit, shit, shit!

Indie games.

Vagabond: Indie games.
*shrug* nothing to argue with there ... Maybe we will get a Hawken demo soon.
Well I'm almost in the same boat* and I don't consider myself any less of a gamer because of it. It's just that publishers are more and more focussing on non-gamers. That's why they're not attracting my attention.

I have to agree with the suggestion that you look into the indie scene. No games designed in board meetings by market analysts there.

*save for the Skyrim looking like shit bit
Actually Master Chief Petty Officer is his rank, his name is John-117 (drop last name, add number to signify which spartan he was).

It's just that everyone refers to him by his rank and not his name.
What's ArcheAge?
Why do you even bother with E3? This is all marketing there, if you want to see innovation, GDC or something similar. :)

Pretty much straight out of real military protocol, there, calling him just Master Chief, especially if he's the only one of that rank around when they're speaking.
I have to say after playing through Halo 1-3 it probably has the best storyline of any pure FPS game I've played (note: I'm not including FP-RPG's like Deus Ex, System Shock, or the like, just your basic run and guns).

I'm actually interested in how the next Halo story will play out. :)

What will they do now that the main storyline has played out in Halo 3/etc? More prequels or something else?
I've taken to watching movies and reading more than gaming. On occasion I find a game that holds my interest. Right now, I'm playing inFAMOUS, but most games don't hold my interest anymore, even my favorites from the past. The plus side of all of this, is that I'm spending more time enjoying real life, and that only helps to make my life feel more balanced, and complete. ...and of course, spending time away from things, sometimes causes one to begin to slowly find greater pleasure in the activities they are leaving behind.

GameRager: <snip>
SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember at the end John-117 didn't die, he was put into cryo with the message "Wake me when I'm needed". A new threat could come about or the pod could crash near something he has to deal with.
