Begin 28 is nothing special for me, just feeling a little more away from the enthusiasm and sense of discovery that brought me into gaming. That doesn't say I do not enjoy them, but I've come to enjoy them differently focusing more on gameplay than stories, even if 2013 had been a good year for story focused games. Did it happened to you as well ?

But enough existential questions. I think it'll be good if I gave away a few extra keys I have from here and there and this one is fully packed with games I consider as great or fantastic, so more people can enjoy them as I did. They're either on steam or origins.

Rules are simple, have at least ONE STAR rep and PICK TWO games and state which platform you'll prefer (I know, Origin isn't that good but that's where I have the keys). Winner are going to be decided using random.org on next Friday.

I find my tastes and interests in video games also changed. I'm probably just too sick to concentrate on video games is all really.

We could blame it on over saturation of the market too. I remember when games released rarely and you had weeks to months to digest the entirety of a game.
Now we get new games each day, it is crazy. (and I don't even use mobile phone games! those must be shovelware big time)

It´s funny since to me, it was the other way around. When I started playing, games had almost no story at all (Asteroids, Space Inavders, Pengo, Centipede, etc), so the only thing that differentiated them was gameplay and as technology progressed and allowed games to be more developed, the stories also started to get more interesting, so, I started to like the stories more.
Now I´m pretty much not interested in games which have no story and/or are MP only, UNLESS, I play with friends (like I used to do 1 vs. 1 in the Atari and every console afterwards).
Maybe, it´s because non-story, points games are only fun if you compete with someone, like if you play with your family or friends, but if not, story heavy games are more interesting, at least to me.

edit: actually it doesnt (still a good post though). for me i need story, atmosphere and the gameplay for me to have a great game inmy possesion
but in ref to lobo's post - i also remember the days of the more arcade style games. oddly, i always preferred those in the arcade, rather than at home.

Happy birthday! 28 is a great age to be a little existential! You are at the perfect age to come to some conclusion from your internal wanderings and then to act on those conclusions and change your life in good ways. (As you get older, it gets easier to just wander without making the changes.)

Yes its very bothersome at times, I've the feeling I'm sometimes spending more and more time reading/listening reviews, I do like that though it helps understanding a bit better what you may be interested in and what you're simply going to skip. However with the increase of showelwares and early access titles I think there's a chance that we might eventually run into another video game crash soon.

I think everyone goes in and out of focusing on games, so don't let it bother you if you don't feel as involved in the story/universes. At least you still enjoy them on some level.Some people have trouble with mixing birthdays and games - like this little boy - though
