Here's a good list for the indie fans' bookmarks. A lot of potentially good games in there I've no idea about, which would otherwise have slipped under my radar were it not for this list.

And yay Zeno Clash 2!

-edit- Didn't realize there's 80 more after the list, making it a total of 130 recommended indie games.

Top 50!?
Isn't that a bit much? When has there ever been more than a dozen or so good indie games released in a year?

Most of the games they listed don't seem appealing at all, at least to me, though of course it's hard to have an opinion on just one screenshot and a brief blurb.

Edit: I also find it interesting that they don't list the indie games I'm most interested in for 2013 even in the list after their top 50.
I guess that means there are a lot of indies that are slated for release in 2013.
But how many will actually be any good is anybody's guess. Personally, I'm betting way less than 50, but that's just me.

Few interesting ones in that lot. A few Kickstarters. Any of these in alpha on desura i wonder?

Quite a few. NEO Scavenger is a very good game even in its current state. There's Xenonauts too, which I also like a lot. Kenshi, I haven't tried. Path of Exile is reaching OB this month. Project Zomboid's still releasing regular updates on Desura, though I don't know if they have new builds. And of course there's Underrail!!!!

@mystral there are a lot of good games in that list. I can recognize about 50% of the games in that list, and based on what I've read up on those games so far, I can tell you a lot of them have serious potential to shine. 8)

As for 2012, well, 2012's seen some of the best indie games ever made (IMO), though YMMV.

I can agree with that. There have been quite a few indies released in 2012 that I loved, and others that were of very good quality even if they weren't in a genre that I enjoy.

But there still wasn't anywhere near 50 good ones.
And call me shallow, but most of their "top 50" seem to have pretty horrible graphics. Now that's not an issue if the gameplay's really good, but in my experience games that have terrible graphics tend to have bad gameplay as well.
These days, it's easy enough to find decent and cheap engines that making a game that hurts my eyes is either a sign of lazyness or of being so blinded by nostalgia that you copy even the graphics of games made in the early 90s.
Neither is a good sign imo.

Im actually wondering about Xenonauts and Kenshi. Both have had Kickstarters.. after they've been in like perpetual beta/alpha, Indiegogo,...r some of these actually close to final release? (ive bought access to both and a few others Starcommand is supposed to be released in January.... subject losely to variation)

I don't know about Kenshi, but I'm still waiting for Xenonauts to go into beta :p
Revenge Of The Sunfish 2.
Just...God.
Did Revenge Of The Sunfish need a sequel?
Can you even make a sequel to that?
How do you consider it a "proper" sequel?

Either way, a lot of those games look really nice.
I'm looking forward to Barkley 2.
A lot of those platformers look really nice, too.

Xenonauts has been delayed mostly because the stretch goals they got in their KS project increased the scope of the project I think.

As for Kenshi, I wouldn't hold my breath. That game's been in alpha state for years, and not much progress has been made AFAIK.
Terrific listing, thanks!! Bookmarked.. :p

I only watched someone play it on YT. Pewdiepie, I think. Shit couldn't be unseen after that :(

Heck, I could have just typed that word for word.

Probably with worse spelling and at least one dick joke. But apart from that. Spot on.
Eh, there's a couple games in there I found worth looking into.

Republique, Radio the Universe, and a couple others. Thanks OP!
